Anyone know of shops that do good porting work in jax or nearby? Im looking to get my intake ported and maybe get a ported throttle body too. Hoping to pick up a few extra horsepower for not to big of a cost especially in comparison to what FAST intakes run

In all honesty. The money your gonna spend on that. It would still be better off buying a FAST. They hold value anyways. Your not gonna lose money buying a used one and then later on down the road you could re sale it and prolly not lose a dime.

Getting a stock intake ported has to be cheaper and cost effective than getting a fast or $800 or $1000. How much do shops charge to port a stock intake?

I have no clue but if porting a stock intake was so cost effective I believe alot of shops would offer it as a service on here.

A guy on the river city performance forum ports tb's for i think 30 or 40 bucks and he has a powder coating oven so he can powdercoat it too. But I'm with these guys ^ on the porting intake side of the discussion. You probably wont pick up anything noticable from that and I'm sure it would cost at least a hundred bucks plus the hour it takes to remove the intake. Buy a used FAST and sell your intake to offset the cost!

on a stock motor its really not worth it, what are your current mods?

yea, you could sell the intake on here for about 300 and you would have a line of people waiting for it (ls6 intake) and the tb can be bought already ported or if you think your skilled enough, you can do it yourself

Right now i only have exhaust. Definitely hsve plans for full bolt ons and a cam in the future so it wont be stock forever that is for sure.
@my bandit- I can search but any ideas what a used fast goes for? Id prob just get a ported throttle body from somewhere or someone reputable

If it were me I wouldn't even bother with porting the ls6 intake. Theres not much wrong with them in stock form and not much to gain by porting it. I would just leave it on and port the TB. And if later on you get the opportunity to get a fast then get it. But that's just me. Theres alot of guys jealous of your ls6, lol.

A used Fast 90/92 with throttle body goes between $750-900 depending on how patient you are. You could buy my entire FAST 90 with lingenfelter direct port nitrous, aeromotive fuel rails with braided lines and 42lb SVO Injectors for $1600. Cost $3300 to do this setup again. Looking to go to FAST 102.

Aftermarket intakes and porting TB's are not the end all be all for performance, there are more then plenty stock cubic inch LS motors that are hauling serious ass with an LS6 intake and stock TB. Don't get sucked into the hype its not worth it. Your money is much better spent elsewhere, there's absolutely NO reason to put a fast, or port your LS6 intake/TB when your stock cubic inch.
Also, I've tuned more then enough LS cars that i have had to the owner to replace the TB because of a shitty port job, its all good when stock, but trying to get a car to idle correctly with a cam when the TB is all jacked up by whoever ported it is a serious pain in the butt.
