View Full Version : after 6 years in the garage. my car is finally out! pics, soundclip! update page2!

i bougth my car back in 2006, with 31k on the clock, and adult owned and driven, it was a realy tigth and unmolested example. it was one of the most plain looking camaros i've seen, and commonly mistaken as a 6cyl car. it was quiet, plain lookin, had a towing bar (hitch). and the "wonderfull" gray cloth interior topped of the 6cyl look,

after i purchased it i could drive it for about 3 weeks, and the motor spun a bearing. i orginally planned to fix the motor and do some nice modifications to it, and be ready for the summer og 07,

that did not happen.. the car ended up as my hobby, and lasth night, almost 6 years later, i drove it out pf the workshop, i have driven it some very few miles for some testing here and there after some installations and such, but until last night i had never driven the car fully functional, with all of the modification working,

and what a diffirent.. its just not in any way the same car i started on in 2006. i built a brand new H/C/I motor, ls7 clutch. nitrous lt's. all of the bolt ons and free modds, fully built suspension, sfc's
the car was repainted in a custom black color, and then it had some really decent(and madly expensive) clear code,
the bottom was also painted, in satin black.and everything that was not new was sandblasted and painted did
the wheel arches in satin black also. whe spent alot of time trying to sand out the wafes in the plastic that the doors and fenders are made of to try to get it mirror straigth and realy show off that nice paint work,

the interior is stll under construction, but i installed viper/srt4 seats. and did the rear seat delete, put the armor bord under the ashtray lid, some dials here and there, and i am swapping all the interior plastics out for a dark grey ones, along with T/A door panels to get it all in just one color inside,

i cant even guess how many times i have spent on this car. its not just the actual modds that can go in the signurate picture, i worked hour after hour on something in this car that did not make it faster og handle better at all, relocatin things, sandblasting things from the undercarrige, and so on.

the first test drive was just awesome.. finally driving error code free, but still on wrong gas and a mail order map i could not belive how strongly this motor pulls.. i have no traction at all untill 3rd gear. and its sounds just awesome.

took some pictures today, _n.jpg _n.jpg _n.jpg jpg _n.jpg n.jpg _n.jpg

and here is a soundclip, acceleration

I think export tails would look perfect on your car.

04-22-2012, 12:00 PM
Wow, I have a sound system hooked up to my computer and that sound clip nearly blew my ears off, beautiful car.

04-22-2012, 01:04 PM
Looks and sounds great!!

04-22-2012, 04:01 PM
thank you guys.

i guess it will surprice most in here, but i have the patriot stageII ls6's, 59cc chambers, 226cam

when i bougth those heads they where getting great rewiev's, but for some reason most started talking realy bad about them, and was dead worryed that this motor would not performe anything like i hoped for.

but the heads where really well made , good flow rate. and now when the car is driving it really looks good, the motors feels and sounds just wicked, it pulls hard down low and the hp's really go up in the 4500-7000rpm. i am so surprised how this motor came out, today you dont think a little 346cid is that cool anymore, but they really do scream man

04-22-2012, 05:07 PM
How much power are you making to the wheels?

04-22-2012, 05:16 PM
Looks awesome! I really like the sleeper look.

04-22-2012, 07:51 PM
thanks man, i've hoped for 420-430 ish rwhp. and really hoped that i would not go under 400rwhp, N/A

04-22-2012, 09:48 PM
Man it looks really clean!

04-22-2012, 10:36 PM
Looks and Sounds great! What is your exhaust setup?

04-22-2012, 11:51 PM
Nice car!

04-23-2012, 01:05 AM
the exhaust is actually a little funny..

it had the much famed LT's-ORY-loudmouth set up.. and i took it off to try to quiet it down a little bit, and for the testdrive i just put a bullet style muffler straight on to the Y pipe, and as funny as it is... the car has never sounded so good! and its so much quieter than before!

Congrats on getting your car back on the road! As we have discussed before, we have very similar builds and wait times to get our cars going. I drove mine a total of 2 miles last fall for testing/shakedown reasons. Was too late in the year to get it fully insured and inspected before the snow came, so it sits in my garage again awaiting full Kooks exhaust treatment.

Looking forward to seeing you power numbers as we have such similar setups. We may not reach peak hp numbers, but power under the curve is most important anyway!

Nice car man, sounds awesome. I like how you shaved the nose emblem, it looks clean.

good looking car i like the wheels.
that black van in the pic makes me feel molested just looking at it lol spooky

04-24-2012, 07:54 AM
congrats man. I'll bet you'll appreciate that car now even more than before. All that hard work paid off - and it looks and sounds awesome.

I bought my latest trans am WS6 back in 2010 - and I have been "correcting" it since I got it. Still sits in my driveway with about 2 summers worth of parts / problems to shake out.

Awesome stuff!

04-26-2012, 10:33 AM
and now it wont start. no fuel pressure

racetronix fuel system,

04-26-2012, 12:14 PM
Wow that monster van is pretty awesome got any more pictures!?

No but seriously that looks good. I can't imagine not being able to drive my car for 6 years. We are going on 3 years for the car we are building but that a completely different situation.

04-26-2012, 07:20 PM
hehe.. i should be able to find some pics of the van, really evil looking thing. old 6.2l diesel and manual,

driving the camaro was just awesome.. last years i always got a new reason not to drive it. but mostly it was because i did not have money do to it.. when i started modding it i was single and lived @ my parents house, but for most of the time i had my own home and family..

but now i am single agen.. so i dont have any excuse to not drive it this summer :P

i really do thank you guys for the good comments,

friend of mine found alot of old pics, that i thougth i had lost with my old computer,

2006, just bougth the car and bougth a loudmouth cat back, 10spoke's and SS wing rigth away. and planned to install one after another

but then the clutch went burst after just.. few days

i imported a ls7 kit, and installed it along with the new wheels, installed the loudmouth few days earlyer, took those pics rigth after the install on my way home

the next day.. the motor spun a bearing.. took it out to see what had happened

this was in the end of the summer, so the plan was to fix the motor before next summer.
during the winter i started getting more sirius about this, and sold my dayle driver and started to purchase stuff for my all new motor

early summer 2007

then i installed the motor, installed LT's and ORY, bougth new black Zr1's and added the SS wing, and planned to put the car on the road agen

but that just did not happen i drove it few miles for testing.. and then it was back in the garage.

and this is probably where the car started to be just a project, i had moved in with my ex wife and had enough else to think about

and from there.. fall 2007 the car was basicly just a hobby, something to do on weekends,

painted the undercarrage

painted the car

started to finish of the motor, and put the car back top gether

first of the suspension parts arriving

brand new ECU

What seats are those and how much modding had to be done to get them to fit?

04-29-2012, 12:17 AM
thanks all,

those seats are from a srt4 neon, they can also be found in the srt vipers, they are not a direct fit, alot of cutting,

04-29-2012, 04:13 AM
Nice man, looks sharp. But im partial to dark cars with TT wheels..... You did a ton of shit to that car. Hopefully it all rolls out smoothly for you the first time.

04-29-2012, 01:46 PM
the in tank walbro fuel pump just died.. wtf i've driven the car probably less than 10 miles, and it has not bin out of fuel
