Default Procharger for a H/C/I car?

Ok, my car has turned into a 100% toy. I hardly drive the thing anymore and I'm thinkin' about adding a little power..

Fast Toys Ram Air
LS1 Motorsports Lid
Ported TB
LS6 Intake
PowerBond UD Pulley
TR224 112LSA Cam
Texas Speed Stage 2.5 5.3L heads
XS Stainless Long Tubes..
Off Road Y
GMMG exhaust
Vigilante 2800 stall
Stock GM 3.42 rear end

My car will NEVER see a track.. I've had it for 10 years and it's never been down a track.. I've only put 3 sets of tires on the car.. I'm not hard on it.. I just like moving quickly.

Is there anything on the market that would add 100 - 150hp that would work with my current setup?

I could look into the bottle, but I'd kinda like the power to be there all the time..

I slapped on a pair of out of the box XYZ Racing heads and gained about two hunnerd to da wheels.

A P1SC would suit your goals just fine, a D1SC will give you room to grow. I'm not really sharing any ground breaking unheard of information, by saying that, but I will add that you can find used kits for a pretty damn decent price all day in the classifieds section.

What are the major differences between the P1 and D1?

I'm putting ~430 to the wheels right now. I'd love to hit something like 575rwhp..

p1 will get you to 575, D1 will get you that pretty easily, and if you decide to go bigger cubes or a forged motor than can handle more boost, it will support that setup as well.

there are no diameter differences i believe from p1 to d1.....but one does not have to work as hard to spin at a certain rpm......d1 can get you too around 750-800+ on a nice setup.

575 would be sweet.. I drive the car once every couple months it seems like and I don't really see me spending the $$$ to keep 800+hp flowing through it. It gets a wash and a shine and sits in the hangar until I can bring it out. I don't think I've driven it since February.

I'll look into a PS1C..

Will my cam/heads/etc be ok? No need to go changing these items?

Excellent. Now I need to see what sorta budget I need to outlay..

If I could get everything minus the transmission and rearend for $4,500, I think it'll happen.

Bob can supply or suggest all of what you need which will consist of this short list and more.

IMO I would stay away from P1 because of the 6 ribbed pulley.

More injector - start with at least 60's.
Fuel pump or perhaps two if you go over 550 rwhp.
A new tune.
A good boost guage as well as a fuel pressure gauge.
IMO I would start with a pulley at least one size smaller than the original that comes with the D1.
FMIC kit.
Minimum of a manual transmission radiator.
Spal fans - 16 inch and 11 inch.

My Z28 has all of the above and more.

With a smaller pulley and a very conservative tune it makes 565 rhwp. My tuner says I would easily get 600 + with the addition of my alky control kit that I have not installed yet - this summer for sure.

BTW - I still have a stock bottom end with low compression LQ9 Patriot heads.

It's a blast to drive - very streetable with the Yank blower 3450 convertor and Performabuilt level II tranny.

Are you looking for something quick around town or on the highway? Procharger (centrifugal) units are quite nice but the car felt totally stock until you were in the upper RPMs. So my Camaro felt amazing on the highway but a bit boring around the city.

A P1 one or D1 will fit your needs. Boost may come in a little quicker on the P1 but you get more output on the D1. Either one can be upgraded to a 8-Rib if it hasn't already. I recommend a FMIC setup as the twin intercoolers are a bit of a pain. I purchased the Prochager FMIC from Bob at BruteSpeed and was very happy with that setup.

Thanks! I've never been able to tell the difference when the boost comes in between the P-1SC and the D-1SC, but perhaps that's just me. 4.10/4.11 gears with a ProCharger makes for a very lively street car. Bob

Thanks! Back in 2002/2003 we installed on my Camaro the only D-1SC kit ProCharger had at the time, which was the six rib kit. At 7 psi of boost I never had any belt slippage problems although we kept the blower belt very tight. I drove it this way for several years before we installed an overdrive crank pulley and bumped the boost up to 15 psi. I'd go eight rib if given the option but the six rib will do. Bob
