New to Cadillac ownership, as well as this beautiful car. My name is Corey and I'll be whoring up this forum a little bit with some future questions, but more just A LOT OF RESEARCH for me! Have a little girl on the way (end of June) so I know I didn't want to be loading her up in a Honda Civic 2-door. Sold the bike and picked up the V. So far it's a great car, still needs some good TLC to make her just right and a little tune up. Picked up her with 96k on the clock, which isn't many miles at all for these great LS motors.

Came from this to the V:

Future mods = UUC shifter setup, possibly K&N (or equivalent) intake setup. Besides that, she's being kept pretty stock for a year or so until I can afford some real mods.

Nice and welcome. If you want to save some extra diaper money you can go with the Katech shifter, or a stock modified shifter from one of the forum members instead of the UUC. You'll save $100-$200 and still get the same throw.

I did read about the Katech shifter. You can buy the UUC bushings seperately correct? If I can save that much $$$, that means the wife will be more than likely to let me buy it.

PM 07CTS-V (http://ls1tech.com/forums/member.php?u=130419) on here, his name is Brian. He modifies the shifter (rather than just welding a tube to the bottom of it), the throw is awesome. Make sure you order the new shifter bushings with it.
It should save you in the neighborhood of 80-100 bucks, and it's the best piece on the market, IMO. The first V I drove had the UUC in it, but stock bushings, and it's really nothing great, especially for the cost.

Congrats on all fronts there. Check your motor/trans mounts, and diff and shifter bushings, they have a tendency to go in these cars and if you start hearing any clunking while driving it a good chance those are your culprits. Bought mine with 91k on the clock and mine where all shot. It's a great car, you'll enjoy it.

Thanks again. I'm doing plugs and wires next weekend (TR55 & MSD 8.5), so I'll check out the mounts then. Been doing a little bit of research on those as well, don't think I want to go full solid since it will be a baby-hauler.

You may be considering the "muffler delete mod". I wouldn't suggest it, bc it drones pretty badly...bad news for an infant (duh).

Currently, exhaust is not on the list of mods to come. Priced long tubes and a cat-back...all I have to see is cha-ching.

I'd say Creative steel mounts, no issues with those things on mine. They're not full solid, and work a hell of a lot better than oem gel fills.

Yes, the bushings come separately anyway. I think the UUCs are $30 from Luke at Lindsay Cadillac or the creative steel ones for $25: https://creative-steel.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=37

Owning a V is the best excuse for working OT.
Just stand back and throw money at it.
A modders wet dream, but they sure screwed the secondary market on the radio/nav system.

Welcome! Is it just me, or does the hood looks like it needs readjustment in that pic?

They had replaced the battery with one that was incorrect, one that had top post connections. After driving it home, I replaced the battery with the correct 101 series and the problem was solved.

Excellent. Car looks nice. Got it in the right color too (I wanted a platinum so bad after already owning a Black cts)
But I couldn't pass up a deal.

If you don't want to be throwing money at this car...dont mod the car...haha.
Little bits, are ok. But don't do anything big. I somewhat regret every dime I spent on this car.

its ok Ryan...haha. I look at it realistically. With what I paid for my car, and what I put in it, I could have had a much better and faster car.
I love the car for what it is...a decently quick and comfortable V8 sports sedan, that can be daily driven. But the car is extremely fickle and tempermental, everyone on here just like to refer to it as "mod hell". The one thing I have come to realize in my almost 2 years of ownership and being on the forum, that you can not make this car into something its not.

Hey we all know the best days of car ownership, the day you buy it.....and the day you sell it. So far im three months in and im still happy i sold the car and bought my new one lol.

Indeed. The bike was a blast, but unrealistic for track weekends and having a kid in 2 months. I'm married too, but this was my choice. And only little bits will be modded, like the short shifter, mounts, already did the CAGS delete, etc.

I keep telling myself that...please stop tempting me!! It's times like these that I almost need to hand any and all bank cards over to my wife.

When ever you want to buy a mod...buy something for your wife. Then she will be happy, you will be happy, you will get laid, and you wont spend more money on a car.

Haha that's usually how it works! I'll buy we something then ask for something. We both end up happy, and with a drained bank account.
