Hey everyone Im in the process of gathering the rest of my parts and info for my shortblock. From the info Ive recieved so far Im going to rebuild the lt1 as a 383 stroker. My question is does anyone know of a good machine shop/builder around the central florida orlando area that you have experience with or has a good reputation?

My father owns a shop called Gerald and Charlies located in Sanford, FL just off of 17/92 been around for since like the 60's.... I'm pretty sure you wont find anyone cheaper than him and does awesome work. Let me know what you think if you don't mind. trying to get him as much business as possible. Good luck with search

Im currently standing in Gerald and Charlies...

Excellent place, they've done everything for me. Except balancing, don't have a machine here unfortunately ..

At Gerald and Charlies if they dont have a balancing machine there do they have someone they work with or recommend for that aspect of the build?

I live on the south end of leesburg. Im probably an hour an a half or so from the tampa area. And I def have no problem driving an hour or two to get work done. I have family in the tampa area and in the daytona area so traveling a bit for work doesnt concern me as long as its good quality at a good price. I have a friend that has a local shop and he will be doing alot of the build on my as far as interior and paint and more the basic stuff, but he doesnt have the machines to do the engine work. Im looking to run N/a for about a year then I will be adding boost via single turbo. So it would be great to find a shop that could do the engine now and also have some experience with turbo lt's as well

Gil over at A&S Motorsports here in the Tampa area is hard to beat.

Central Florida Machine is also very good, they did the balancing on my last 383.

I think they (Gerald n Charlies) outsource for balancing, I'll ask tomorrow when I go back to finish my block.
