Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels made a huge splash to open the 2012 season when they unveiled their all-new 3754X ET Street Radial Pro 275/60-15 tire at Lights Out 3 in south Georgia, where the tire virtually stole the show and the headlines with record performances that backed up the tire testing numbers we’d been hearing about during the late winter months.

Albeit legal in the red-hot X275 category, the lack of a DOT stamp on the ET Street Radial Pro precluded its use in sanctioning bodies that require a true DOT-approved radial tire.

That's nothing more then a radial slick at this point IMO. Mine as well just put 8-10 "holes" in the tread surface so you have some idea how much is left on it like an actual slick has...

But if it fits the 275 rules, guys would be fools not to use them.

They are by far the best 275 drag radial out right now. The race that the tires were released at had quite a few very impressive times that were run. I expect to see this tire be the go to tire for all the 275 racers.

I'm sure getting them will be the issue... M/T will probably be at every big 275 race with a truck full I'd guess, ordering them any other way will probably take a while.

Wonder how these compare to Hoosiers.

True, the Hoosiers are working great or me but I'm gonna go ahead and order a set of these to have on hand.

The 275 class is going to turn into a tire of the week club if this keeps up... going to be like nascar was when there was more then one tire manufacturer playing the game. All it would take is another company to get in on it (actually come up with a good option) and there class would really have a tire war going on, as if there isn't already

From the real world results I have seen the M/T and the Hoosier are a toss up as to which is better.

The real benefit from the M/T comes in that the tread compound is hardly changed from the old 275/60 so you get the long life those tires had going for them. Now that longer life the old tires had were there down fall as were the stiffer sidewall that the Hoosier didn't have. The Hoosier you get about 40 passes out of and that's it. The old 275/60 M/T's you could get a 100. The new M/T I have seen and heard guys putting 40 passes on them so far and still having 50% tread left.

You can't do that with a set of Hoosiers.

So as of right now the M/T has the advantage as far as cost and tread life. On a bad track they are both going to be just as good as each other.

The new M/T is suppose to have a sidewall that is as soft if not softer than the Hoosier which gives it most of it's advantage over the old tire while still retaining the longer tread life.

I just can't get a set anywhere. I thought I had a solid line on a set, but they were gone when I got there at the Civil Wars Race. So for now I will enjoy the X275 and my other fellow RS275 racers that did get the M/T pro 275's selling there take off Hoosiers with 2 and 3 passes on them for 250 bucks like I did for the brand new(3 passes) set of Hoosiers I just got!

Tested a set on a friends car and it seems like the MT will go faster on a better prepped track than the Hoosier. Multiple tires were tested including the new MT, the new (only a couple sets in the world) Hoosier 275, and the old Hoosier 275 (what most people have). I think the new MT and the old Hoosier are still the best tires in 275 racing. I think new Hoosier is still in the development process of their new tire.

So the rumor is true then! Hoosier TTF! I can't wait to get a set of hoosiers.

I bet unlike M/T they release thousands of them at once. Hoosier knows that move by M/T so far to only have them at certain races and nearly impossible to get outside of one should be taken advantage of by Hoosier.

These wear like MTs street radial or MTs cheater/drag slick?
I'm running 325 MT street radials right now (the old style) because they hook good and get great life... Wouldn't mind having a tad better hooking tire with similar life though, obviously.

Eric was on the phone with them asking what they did because it worked too much like a slick. I think this was only one of three sets and very early in the design phase. The old Hoosier was out for a little while before anyone really tried them then Eric went that 1.18 and tire sales went through the roof. I don't mind running either tire until I'm forced to buy the M/T's in September.

It will be interesting to see what hoosier does but I will have to stick with Mickey Thompson. You can't beat the support they give to our kind of racing.

We blew a charge pipe off first qualifier and blew a head gasket on the second. I'm going to make a few changes to the car and hope to have it back out next month sometime. I'm not going to make piedmont tomorrow. A friend of mine is moving and I will be helping him, if not for that I would bring the nitrous car down there. Maybe next time.
