Gears & Axles - Looking into getting 3.73 gears

My question is there have a 2 series and a 3 series. Which do I need? I got an 02 camaro z28 with stock rear end and stock 2.73 gearsJ

2.73 = 2 series

So will I be able to get a 3.73 3 series and will it fit and work properly? Not really knowledgeable about gears and rear end stuff

NO,you'll need a 3.73 'thick' gearset made for a series 2 carrier.

If looking at Motive Gears the part number will be followed by an x indicating its a thick gear set for 2 series carriers. Part number would be something like GM75373x. The 75 means 7.5 inch ring gear. For their performance gear set substitute the GM for G8. So G875373x.
