Besides the compression ratio being higher on a LS3..Is it possible to swap LS3 parts over to a LY6? I would like to use the control pack from GM for the LS3 on the LY6 if that is even possible?

Sure. The ly6 head castings are the same as the ls3, but the Vette valves are lighter. Most people here with an ly6, put a ls3 intake on their ly6. The ly6 is a vvt engine, the ls3 is not, so I can't comment on the camshafts interchanging. And by control pack, I'm guessing you mean computer, or ECM. You can use an ls3 ECM, but the ly6 ECM is tunable, so why not use the stock ly6 ECM? Possible...yes.

I guess I would want avoid the cost of a tune by using the LS3 ECM..The GM control pack is the ECM, harness and pedal..Every thing to get it running..I have had bad luck with people saying they know how to tune and end up just BSing you..But this was with tuning a carb..

Yeah, pretty much works the same way with tuning an efi unit. There will always be people that claim they know how to tune, and then there are those tuners that everybody wants to use because of reputation. Shoot, I guess that principle applies to everything, though.
Now I'd have to believe that you would need to delete the vvt on the ly6, due to the ls3 ECM not being set up for that. Or perhaps it could be integrated into the ls3 ECM. Someone more knowledgeable than I, will have to figure that out. I'm no tuner, and don't pretend to be.
My ly6 was a complete pull out, which came with a harness, ECM, and pedal. I use vengeance racing for my tuning needs, and so far they have been great. The cost of a tune isn't that bad. It's nothing, compared to the rest of the build.

I'm running an 09 ly6 with vvt, mast cam, ls3 intake and all ly6 ECM etc.... Love it!! Tuning isn't a big deal if you get the right shop. If you have a street car... I'd leave the vvt!!!

Kanner,
Any opinions on your LY6 power wise? seat of the pants before and after the MAST cam?

thanks,
Jim

Street car, or not, Id ditch all that vvt dod bullshit.

Vvt and dod are two totally different systems. The ly6 doesn't have dod. The vvt is being used by many manufacturers with success. I like the technology. It's a great thing for a street car. If I were building an all out race engine, I'd take it all off, but I'm building a cruiser, with an occasional trip to dodge some cones.
