brake and abs inop light on!!

brake and abs inop light on!! ok, i do not know when it came on but its getting on my nerves!!! jayson at mti said it was the spped sensor on top of my rear end.. i checked it and it looked fine and was plugged in...
when i go to stop, my rpms stay at 1,700 until i come to a complete stop for one second then they drop down, but as soon as i move, they go back up.. and i dont want to keep it like that and maybe warp my rotors..
any ideas on what could cause the high rpm's until a complete stop?? thanks

I don't have my manuals here, but consider this:
They are called "idiot lights" by many...
Brakes are used to stop a moving vehicle...
You also say that the car is idling faster than normal...
Brakes are also used to keep a car at idle from moving...
You have an INDICATED problem with your brake system...
You are STILL DRIVING THE CAR IN THIS CONDITION...
