Default Lt4 intake

when i bought my car the motor was built. Bored .040 over radius and polish crank, port and polish heads. pistons, connecting rods, GM hot cam kit anyway it says on a invoice i have "Modify intake manifold to fit lt1 heads" im just wondering why this guy put LT4 intake on it if there is no HP gain. the car has SLP cold air intake, hooker headers, and magnaflow exhaust headers back. It was dynoed at Danbury chassis dyno service and it had 362/358 @ 5300 that doesnt look so good i was wondering if this motor should make more. I also have Flow test sheets for the heads. When my scanner starts to work i"ll post the dyno chart.

The LT4 has bigger runners I believe.

A stock LT1 manifold will support like 450hp. Port it and it will do even more. The design is pretty damn good on them.

That cam is choking you out. What are the flow numbers on the heads?

Why was it revved so low? Stock is 5700rpm.

The LT4 has the same runners as the LT1, The only difference is the added material above the ports to seal against the LT4 head.

And in all likely hood the "modified LT4 intake to fit LT1 heads" means milling off that material ruining it as an LT4 intake. It was done because people refuse to actually understand much of anything and blindly make bad decisions.

That said 362/358 is doing just fine for basic local ported heads HOT cam setup. You are trying to compare local head work and a 15yo mild cam to higher end specialist LT1 head work and more aggressive and modern cams.

The lift difference between the stock and the HOT cam is close the same as the lift difference between the HOT cam and the modern custom grinds a lot of guys are using to top 400rwhp. Stock is .450ish, HOT is .525 and a lot of guys these days are running .590-.610.
