Hey guys I have a 2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 with around 50,000 miles, been having an issue lately with the rear end whining when accelerating especially more noticeably when over 55 mph. I've taken it to a couple shops and they've change bearings and ring and pinions but havent solved the problem. I've read where if the gear isnt shimmed correctly it will still make the noise. Does anyone know of a good mechanic near the Naples Ft Myers area in Florida or relatively close to that? Im running out of options and out of my mind with this noise? Thanks!!:bang:

Depending on how the car has been driven, the housing could be tweaked, pretty common on the 10 and 12 bolts with the torque arm setup.

Mine always growled, but it was b/c of the pinion bearing.

Thank you!

I fixed my noisy 10 bolt by replacing it with an S60.
