Wink Reuse stock muffler to create sleeper?

I have a question for you guys... Have any of you done exhaust work and then reused your stock muffler to create a sleeper?

Pacesetter LT's/3" ORY/3" I-Pipe.. Stock 2000 Z28 Muffler... I was thinking of this setup. Because once the cam is in.. I'd like it to be a sleeper. Only hear the cam when I open the cutouts?

What do you guys think? Would I be choking off the headers and ory?

Thanks

There are several board members on this forum that run headers, ORY, and the stock catback. Nineball(Tony)had headers, no cats and a SLP Dual Dual exhaust. He ran this set-up even on his 434 stroker. The Dual Dual is one of the highest flowing catbacks available and is relatively quiet too. You can buy a used one for like $200 or less.

that's what i'm running right now, Pacesetter LT's, Pacesetter ORY, stock exhaust+3"cutout right before the muffler, i usually leave my cutout open, sounds pretty good (although i still have to cure my rasp), and when my cutout is capped it sounds real close to stock...i'm still thinking about moving up to a WS6/SS exhaust+cutout or something, i figure i could get a bit more hp out of it and still cap it to sound stock...

Thanks for the responses.. How would a muffler shop go about adding the stock muffler to a 3" exhaust system?

Thanks

They could use some reducers and then back to 3"

I was looking for the same set up
kooks 1 7/8" headers QTP y-pipe into a stock catback but with my set up I would need 2 different tunes so I said forget it and got a slp d/d

I'm still running my stock WS6 catback with LTs and 3" catted Y. I'll probably dyno it Saturday, so we'll see what it does. I figured if anything I would swap the muffler out for a Magnaflow if the numbers are low.
