Its a slight ticking and i have aluminum valve covers. I know i need taller covers but with the rockers hitting cause a problem till then?

It all depends on how much contact is being made, and what type of restriction is being caused by that contact....

ITs never good practice...

itll bend push rods & possibly collapse a lifter if its really bad If your runnin stock cover get the proform 141-130s or any of the 3 or 4 jegs sells Youll need to grind/clearance the back of your alternator but thats Easy I like em A Lot better than the ugly chopped up canfields :) Ive got the polished ones settin on my bench waitin on the 396 to be finished :) They make black & chrome too I was gonna get the smooth ones but jegs said theyre on back order OH & Im runnin 1.6 stainless roller rockers & I did a bunch of research on valve covers before I bought any

YES.......shut it off and fix the problem..depending on what they are doing yes you can bend valves,pushrods, break lifters, shave metal into the oil and cause even worse issues........just fix it and dont run it.......
