Unhappy Need help starter is hitting flexplate th400

Guys need help bad pulled the motor out of the car 2 months ago due to spun rod bearing when I did found out I needed a new block so I bought a 2000 model ls1 block mine was 98 so I built it put it back in now the starter seems like it hits the flex plate when engaged Amy suggestions because before rebuild the car ran fine with the same setup it has bmr flexplate for ls1 to th 400 and a monster converter anything please help!!!!!

Did you measure the distance between the two? Sounds like it needs to be shimmed.

That's kinda what I was thinking but everybody said you shouldn't ever shim the starters on these cars!

Never heard that before. I just did my flexplate and 4l60e and it states right on the instructions to make sure it is within .010-.020 - measured mine and it was .020 so didn't need to shim.

What does I measure the starter to flexplate?

Your measuring top to bottom distance between teeth.
