Spent tonight taking off my x-pipe and exhaust on my C5 Z. What a pain in the ass this whole operation was!
I had to gut the cats on my American Racing headers, because of the new nitrous setup. So, I jacked up the back of the car and let the fun begin. It ain't easy crawling under one of these things, especially when they're lowered.

Sounds a lot better now without the cats on them too. I'm happy with the results. Saved $400 by not buying a non-catted x-pipe from ARH and I still have the catelytic converter shells on there for visual inspections.
Anyway, I will be making sure to order a lift to make things easier in the near future, because crawling under this friggen thing ain't fun!
Here's a short video I took of it after I got it out of the garage.

It's got a cam/head setup on it also. Just figured I'd post up a new video of the car.

Yeah, it's a pain working under any car sitting on jackstands. If only I had enough room for a lift.

Very nice. Car sounds mean.
You need to make a set of these. Cheap, very sturdy and gets the car very high.

That's the main reason I paid someone to put in my clutch. Jacking up the car and working off your back isn't fun.

Are those nailed or tied together in anyway? They're just little 2X4's? I definitely could use something like that.

2x4 cut 14" and screwed together - 2 screws at each end of board. Some guys use glue also but it's not needed. You can make these just about any height you need assuming you are able to jack it up high enough.

I used 2 pair of the 6 ton heavy duty jack stand and the 2 ton low profile race jack from HRB to get my car around 2 feet in the air. I am nearly 6'2 and the engine bay was chest high and I needed footstools just to reach inside the engine bay. Being a large person I used a creeper to do my entire exhaust with absolutely no crowding issues at all. It is easy to get the car high enough in the air.

I was so tempted to buy one of those earlier this year but I am renting my current house and I don't thing the holes in the driveway would agree with the owners ;)
I did manage to get it up this high though to do what needed to be done.

Oh yes, they worked quite well. I could turn my headers 90* and then some. Swaping a rear or K would be no issue so long as I had something else to hold the engine up or a stand for the rear. It just sucks laying down doing all that and the rolling back and forth. When I purchase a perm house, you better believe once of the first purchases will be a damned lift.

Lift and cheap are not synonymous. Unless you find a great deal locally, you are looking at a couple grand easy.

Bramlok, that's a nice idea. I guess it's pretty obvious, but what's your procedure for getting the car on those? That's really high.
