Manual Transmission - Mobil 1 ATF Funky Smell

I just had my T56 rebuilt and installed it and all is well. The builder recommended Mobil 1 ATF, which I put in. The shifts are smooth and the trans is great. I can smell this tranny fluid though from time to time inside the car. My close out rubber boot has a gap, so it may be coming in from the vent tube. I checked for leaks and the fluid level, and no problems. Anyway, the fluid has a very distinct odor that reminds me of something dead....ughhh... Anyone else have "smells" with the M1 ATF? Thanks!

ATF doesnt smell great in general, especially after its heat cycled a bit. Nothing wrong with it, and atleast its not AS bad as used gear oil!

I would try sealing up around the shifter. That should make the smell stay outside.
