Okay guys this is what I am to determine and could use your help also.
05 LQ4 block fresh bone (standard)
I need two pistons to keep at 9.4:1 comp but have a set of LQ9 pistons but need three.
Fresh polished 3.622 crankshaft with stock rods
02-04 Z06 .550 lift camshaft
Fresh set of 243 heads but will put on some yellow springs for the .550 lift cam
All this is going in my 87 Buick Turbo T, with a TH350, and 3.42 gears and it will be carbed with a 750 Holley, guessing I am going to need bout a 3500 converter and car will have a 175 shot of nitrous also. And going to be ran by a MSD system with a Victor Jr intake.
With the lq4 pistons and the 243's comp should bump to around 10:1 but with lq9pistons it would come up to 10.6:1 or a little more so with that saying can the lq9 pistons be use in this block without serious mods.
But can I get 450 before nitrous with the setup as a LQ4 with 243's and the Z06 camshaft.

I would say that setup is going to make 350-380rwhp. needs a bigger cam and better heads to achieve 450 on motor

At the flywheel, absolutely 450 is possible, flattops all day with that cam.

If you put the LQ9 pistons in it, you will basically have an iron LS2.

What is the stock compression of the LQ9s with the stock 317 heads? I thought it was like 10.0 or 10.4 stock? So if your running LQ9 pistons and 243 heads you were close to 11.0 compression?

I stand corrected it is 10.9:1 instead of the quoted 10.6:1 which its basically a iron ls2 motor. But base comp is 9.4:1 and 10.0:1 with 317's

put it this way, i have a stone stock long block ls2 in my 67 camaro, 3280 lbs,3.73's, richmond 5 speed and first pass off the trailer, totally untuned and spinning to a shitty 1.68 60' it went faster than 3pedals car has. ;)
dont believe the hype that you need more than a 243 head to go fast. the heads have NEVER been off my motor,

btw 3pedals, you have WAY too much gear in your car, especially if you plan to swap to a nash!

Funny the say LQ4 (9.4:1) but show flat top pistons ??? LQ9 (10.0:1) ....Nothing a little head shaving couldn't fix :)

Well i finally decided to go this way, my LQ4 block with the LQ9 pistons, with .551 z06 camshaft, and some 243 heads and basically be a iron block z06 with 11:1 compression.
LQ4 block with fresh hone
LQ4 crank polished
180 bucks in labor
LQ4 rods with LQ9 pistons
had to buy three pistons
40 bucks
243 heads from a 09 siverado blown motor
free
02-04 z06 camshaft
90 bucks
so far 310 bucks in to this whole build
needed parts now:
victor jr intake
msd 6010
hot rod oil pan
7.400 push rods
yellow springs

Sounds on track. A zo6 engine from the c5 only wishes it was a 6.0 though, the carb and headers will be 40 hp over a 5.7ls6, and the extra cubes, 30 more hp as a estimate, 475 hp at the crank at least.

That smells a little like ricer math.:jest:

Ricers just wish they made power in general, we aren't talkin stickers and wings, lol.

LQ9s were rated at 345 hp from the factory - so obviously 350 is going to be the extreme bottom end of your new hp range
Displacement alone is worth more torque - not a whole lot more HP though.

Get a custom cam for that intake! Carb style Intakes require different lsa compared to the stock style ls intakes. Your going to leave power on the table with the z06 cam.

I ran into a problem I bought three pistons and bought rings for an 04 which mines was and the pistons came from an 04 but must of be a late model cause there 05+ pistons and now the rings want fit. Guess I got to find some 04 pistons or get three ring pack sets for the 05.
I have been thinking of selling the cam and get a carb cam but on a very strict budget also with this build.
