I have an HUMount installed in my Camaro and I absolutely love it.. Except it's SO BRIGHT! It lights up the entire interior when it's on full brightness. I have been using the gauge light dimmer to control it, but obviously that also dims all the other interior lights too, and I prefer my gauges on full brightness.

Does anyone know if there a sort of switch I can wire up to the HUMount so I can dim the LED's separately from the dash lights? This would be ideal, so that way I can leave the mount at like 25% brightness and the rest of my dash lights at 100%. Has anyone tried to do this or something like it before?

Thanks!

The instructions that came with my HUMount said you can wire in a 5K pot to the ground wire and tune it.

So one of these? Not sure how they work to be honest, but I'm sure I can figure it out. If that's the right thing, I'll run out and pick one up immediately. Thanks for the help!

Its just a variable resistor. It varies from 0 ohms (no resistance), to 5000 (5K) ohms (more resistance). The more resistance, the dimmer the lights.

So yeah, that would work. Splice it into either the positive or ground wire.
