I have had 2 foxbody cars as street cars over the past 9 years. Had alot of fun with them. I figured it was time for a change. I picked up a 2000 Camaro SS, leather interior, 6 speed, red with black hardtop. Car only has 80k miles on it and it's very clean....so far so good.

Currently the car only has a lid when it comes to mods. Anyone have a good parts list to help me make this car faster with a $1000 limit? Thanks

M6 car Catback and LS6 manifold will really wake it up power wise on the cheap for around a $1000. If it was an A4 car you would HAVE to do a stall converter.

No you wouldn't. Just depends on how fast you want to make the car. There are plenty of LS1 Camaros/Trans Ams that are lid, cat-back, and tune that are in the high 12's with stock stall.
Add headers to that and you'll be in the mid 12's with a stock stall, no problem.
Lid, cat-back, headers, LS6 intake, larger TB or P&P TB, tune. Of course all that is probably closer to $2,000, but you'll have a pretty streetable little monster on your hands after all that.

What I was refering to with the Stall Converter is that it is just about the best bang for the buck mod on an A4 car. Converter, lid and exhaust would put most A4 cars into the mid to low 12's and it could happen with the $1K price limit.

Yes, it is an incredibly good bang for the buck mod. However, the OP's car is a 6 speed.
I personally stray away from it until I can retire my Camaro to a Sunday driver and get a new DD.

i would go with a good set of long tubes and get a good exhaust shop to squeeze you in some 3 inch true duels, throw in a ls7 clutch and get you a 100 shot of nitrous. these cars arent hard to make quick my buddy has a 01 ws6 t/a with just the true duels and a nice intake (and it has the ls6 style intake mani as well) and it rides out. he's only got a 75 shot on it now but it likes it so much we are uppin the dosage ;)

For the price of about $1k, definitely go with a catback to start off man. If you don't have the smooth bellows, add that as well as a better intake. That will push ya to just about the $1k-1.3k mark. I have a 99 Z28 M6 as a daily driver with just the lid, catback and a nos setup and still hitting 24-27mpg with it.

Guy I bought the headers from threw in a 3" Y pipe As well. I also found a Magnaflow catback for $100. Can't beat that. I Youtubed the catback and I'm not too crazy about the sound but for $100 I can always get a different muffler later. Now Im looking for an LS6 intake.
Next question, Ported throttle body, who can port my throttle body and what is the mouth size on the LS6 intake? I would port the TB to match correct?

There are a couple of vendors on here who will have you send in your TB and they will port and polish it for you. But you can also find those same vendors on Ebay. They usually charge $50-$150, depending on if you send your TB in, or get a new one altogether. Every little bit of HP counts, but don't expect to see major gains. I wouldn't count on aything past 5HP, most people report increased throttle response though.
I've been thinking of doing it, but $150 for 5HP is a little expensive.

How does the stock LS1 throttle body compare to the throttle body opening on the LS6 intake?
