Carbureted LSX forum - msd 6ls2 up in smoke

Car was running fine but 2 step stopped working...found the contact broken on the switch so i swapped it out. Tested it to see if it worked twice and it didnt,then the car died wouldnt restart and the box started smoking.

Its a simple thing to wire,cant really mess it up. Anyone else have this happen?

Really ruined my day.

My first MSD box went up in smoke very similar to yours. I had been driving the car for a couple of weeks after getting it put together. Backed out of the garage, the car died, then smoke rolled out of the box. Luckily mine was under warrany and MSD sent me a new one but it took about 3 weeks. I also bought a spare to use after that.
