Street Racing & Kill Stories - stock z06 and supercharged z06 vs GTRrrrrrrr

Stock z06 dynoed 465 rwhp from the rumers Im hereing and seems to be a great example of the american legend.

Supercharged z06 is rumored to be somewhere within the 600-700 rwhp range but that is for the owner to disclose if he chooses.

Gtr is 900 awhp on c16 but on this night was running pumpgas at 770 awhp.


The supercharged z06 and Gtr line up at a 50 roll and I steady myself and focus the camera.

one Two THREE

A very even start and the z06 catapults to a 1 car lead by 80 mph. From 80-100 mph the Gtr stops the pulls and by 110 mph they are door to door.

From 110-150 mph the gtr slowly pulls on the z06 and has the z06 directly on its rear bumper at shutdown of 150 mph.

Was one of the funnest races Ive been a part of. Admittedly I wanted the z06 to win but considering the power differance the z06 did extremely well.


Next up the stock z06 lines up at 50 and initiates a 3 beep. The z06 cleanly takes off on its third beep while we are caught sleeping for aprox. 1 second.

1 second is HUGE!

The GTR didnt pass the z06 till 90-100 mph and then proceeded to pull a bus or two before shutdown of 140 mph.


Raced a few supras as well but they fell back quite quickly on this night.


Gotta give props. The car is an amazeing performer. It took the curves even more impressive than its straight line performance.

If only more like Jessica Alba vs Rosie Odonnel this would be the perfect car.

Sounds awesome but yea Chrysler says one thing but untill the car comes out im sure they aint going to give all the details that way it can sell as much as possible. Granted the new GTS Viper has Ferrari interror and it looks very nice you can also buy the base line for much cheaper and it has the same old interror but its a little better than the old ones Glade to see that they lighten it up a bit too!

It is priced around the Zr1 money and the Zo6 as well if you buy a fully loaded Z its around 130k a fully loaded Zr1 goes for 150k. but you can buy the base Viper for just under 100k still the GTS is more for luxury with the beast of a Viper and the base is all old school.

I was talkin about a fully loaded Z06 Vette, hell a fully loaded base Vette is just shy of a base Z06 starting price thats how chevy does it. IF you can afford a fully loaded base vette then why not just get the Z right? Since its just a few thousand more like 3k more tops. Car and Driver did a thing on the vettes i believe it was them. and they had all the pricing for each on of them from starting price to fully up graded so yes a fully up graded Z06 NOT A BASE Z06 but a fully upgraded Z06 goes for around 130k after tax tag and title etc....

Has every thing but Navigation. To include Z07 package. Even original price was only 92k. And can add nav if want for not much more. Not to mention there is some rebates you can get. Militaryy/usaa/employe/Rpeat customer or some crap GM calls it.

Known problems:
-2006-2007 (early). Delamination of roof skin. Covered under recall. By this time most Z06s have had this issue taken care of.
-2007 VERY small batch problem with rocker arms coming apart. Don't even worry about it.
-2006-2007 Rear axle shaft breaking. GM revised axle shafts due to failures in 2006, and again in 2007. By 2008 the problem was fixed, although another upgrade came in 2010 when the Z06 got the asymmetrical axle shafts from the ZR1.

So I miss read the Road and Track magazine oops oh well it is saying that for the base vette fully upgraded its going to be $63,480/$70,395 thats for coupe and convertible for the grand sport fully upgraded its $72,130/$78,140 coupe and convertible Z06 fully upgraded $101,760 and the ZR1 fully upgraded $129,945 sry for miss reading it. Id still get a used Z before Id buy a new one or maybe even a used Zr1 over a new one anyday. The New Viper is going to have forged internals again so at least you get to save some money when building that up and its going to have wider tires and hits 60 in the low to mid 3 sec range yup sounds like a great contender to the vette!

When we had Z06's on our lot the avg was 82k MSRP 3LZ option 2010 models. We would sell them around 72k+tax and fees some dealers even 68k+tax and fees MAJOR looser deals. The carbon edition as of recent usually run about 98k yes depending on option it can be more but mostly i saw 98k for them. Whoever said a Z06 is 130k i would have loved to sell you a Z06 for that amount, id be in vegas all month spending the money. Please dont post stuff like this without ATLEAST doing some research.

Is this new with 0 miles? I just went to Chevy website and clicked on options...lol. I got offered one in Atlanta 2 summers ago for 68,000 fully loaded! The guy who ordered it lost his job and house so she was jus chillin on the lot...smh.

What they arent telling you is that right now the 600 hp viper and 638 hp zr1 both dyno 520-560 rwhp or around 545 rwhp on average.

The 2010 viper and zr1 were a drivers race. 3345 pounds for the viper ment the zr1 is a hundred pounds less but they had the same rwhp.

With the new viper likely dynoing 600 rwhp and at 3350 pounds its gonna put some distance on the zr1. It should be comparable to the aventador.
