Cadillac CTS-V - 54s 05V Build thread
54inches

Basically, I bought this car back in September and this will be my "build thread".
Here is a brief synopsis of the past few months:
The rear spoiler is not mounted well, so I will need to get another; probably has broken clips.
The AC bezel is not even on both sides, so it probably has a broken clip.
All of the buttons are flaking.
The seat is not bolted all the way down.
The trunk lift struts are shot.
The hood is missing one lift strut.(Is this common?)
The PO had installed a iPod aux connection; THANK YOU!
The PO had installed a Fusion amp and 2 12" MTX speakers in an old School sealed box.
AGAIN, thank YOU! No offense to the PO, but the Amp was not tuned or setup properly. The Bass filter was on the wrong setting and the gain was up WAY to high. I usually don't go past 3/4, and most of the time keep it around 1/2, just to overprotect the amp.
To me it sounds cleaner and more even. Again, nothing against the PO, as everyone likes their music different.
The rear seats fold down; WTF? That is AWESOME!
It drives so much better than my 2003 CTS.
There was about $7 worth of change underneath the seats. Yeah!!!!
The inside trunk studs are beat to hell and I guess someone had something large rolling around back there as most of them are bent. I am going to pull everything out and get a hammer and dolley after them one of these days.
All of the mats are terribly faded.
The muffler/resonator delete is too much and I think the mpg is suffering a tad; ya think?
The slave cylinder and clutch are going out.
It already has UUC motor mounts, so while I am in there replacing the clutch and flywheel with an LS7 unit, I am going to get the Kooks and at least one rear axle.
It needs a new shifter, tuneup and the fluids changed as well.
Well in the last 4 weeks, I have:
Put on new rear tires
Installed the LS7 Clutch, flywheel & slave, with remote bleeder
AZ shifter
CS shifter bushings
Delrin shifter bushings/bearings
Changed tranny fluid
Washed
Clay barred
Waxed
Fixed rear sail panel
Installed x-pipe
Installed bullet mufflers.
installed SLP HF cats
I did the cat this weekend and then went on a trip and could noticeably notice a driving difference and the mpg jump by 2 on the highway.

It must be that aerodynamic improvement from the wash clay bar and wax job ;) haha looks like a good list of first mods!

i see no pics.. hood only has one strut. doubt no muffler/resonator would affect MPG. clean the MAF. pull the batt for a few hours. let it reset.
good first mods.. Ls7+ modded shifter.. did you shimm the linkage at the trans? like in the B&M thread on here

Thanks bud! WELL, I disconnected the battery this weekend when I was replacing the bad cat, but my P0054 code came back and I have new Rear O2s. Any suggestions? I updated another thread that I started awhile back.
Can you provide a link for the shimmed linkage? I don't remember seeing that one and I thought I had read every one! ;)

Well, I took the REar O2 sensors off, cleaned them, cleaned both sides of the terminals with electric parts cleaner, switched sides and installed.
Now I am getting the similar code for the passenger's side. P0060
So it looks like a bad NEW 02 sensor. Time for an exchange at the parts store.

Your going to have to turn the rear O2 sensors off with those H/F cats.. anything but stock will throw codes..

Did a little work last weekend on my 4 day weekend.
I had been meaning to install the other SLP cat.
I installed the drivers rear window regulator.
I adjusted the parking brake, which on a side note, not sure why people bitch about this. It took 5 minutes.
Plastidipped the wheels.

FYI, this is my fucking build thread, so if you don't like it, then don't look at it. No need to be a douche bag about it.
I am good with comments that are not in favor of my style, but it was done with plastidip, for a reason.
I have been "murdering-out" vehicles since 1992 and it is a little played out, so I was going with something different.

Absolutely!
1. Take off the wheel
2. Take off the Caliper and set it on top of the UCA.
3. With the proper Torx, take off the disc rotor.
4. With a screw driver turn the adjuster, so the cap opens up and pushes out on the parking brake shoes.
5. Test fit the rotor so it slips on without dragging.
This is brief and does not include safety measure and with some of the idiots on here, make sure you know how to properly jack and secure the car before you take off thew wheel as I am not liable for your idiocy.

Haha, thank you for the quick rundown! Sounds simple enough, and shouldn't take long at all. Does this need to be done on both parking brake shoes or did you just tackle one side?
Regardless, thanks for the quick run down! :thumb:

If you are local and I can find time, I would be more than happy to help.
To be honest, I only had time to do the drivers and it helped ALOT, so I am sure doing both will remedy the little bit of creep that I have now.

Thats true! Lol u were movin when u exited Scott street. I would have got on it but traffic was shitty so I just kept rollin. Lol and thanks man! I wasn't a fan of the silver initially but after owning the black one, I needed a change. I like it setup like this. Glad I went the black grills/wheels route over chrome. Looks more sinister. But anyway, let's plan to meet up sometime. I'd like to get a V meet together for us south side folks. Maybe a Galveston meet or something so we can eat and chill somewhere.

Had a BLAST at G-Force today. Great bunch of guys and treated us like old friends!
It looks like one of the previous owners had tried to tune it but leaned her out a bit too much. No worries at all, G-Force took care of that.
Specifics; HPTuners on a DynoJet.
Pre-Tune.

Also fixed the fucked up grilles that several of the previous owners had painted in place and tried but failed at taping off the surrounding areas. FN pathetic attempt at best.
Media blasted everything and repainted.
Much cleaner looking.

On what LSA and advance?
Check out Tick's SNS stage 2 cam for LS!/LS6 motors or AI's Streetsweeper HT cam. Both have similar duration to the one you mentioned, along with a tight LSA and +3 advance that will give you good power under the curve and a nice ratatat idle.
