Generation IV External Engine - Polishing heads hurt heat disapation?

I'm sending my heads to Ligenfelter to get worked on. Before I do, I was going to clean and smooth the casting. I gspent so much time just doing one that I figured it would be a better use of my time to have a pro do them.

I wasn't looking to get them polished to a mirror finish as I'm going to paint them. But the guy said it was easier for him to just polish them and them I can scuff them prior to painting.

I was told by another friend that I might want to do some research first as polishing may close the pores and reduce heat dissipation. Is there any truth to this and should I be concerned

Thanks for the input!

Nate

This is some of the work I did myself.

Most of the cooling came from the coolant and oil passages, not from the head to the air itself. You can polish your head and barely notice a change in operating temps.
