So my current mods lt4 le1 heads and lt4 intake moroso cai lt headers 4.10 gears on the way and a cc306 cam I got for 50 buck so I put it in i had the 503 and I don't know if I enjoy the 306 as much. With my le1 heads what cam would be more streetable I'm sure the 503 and what would make more power if I don't want to spin past 6300rpm. I thought the 503 felt like it had more power but I didnt run the 503 with my le1 heads so the I want some input
Thanks

The 503 cam will make more usable power if you want to limit it to 6300 rpm.

If it was rebuilt decently then 7000rpm should be no problem. If you had the rods reconditioned and used pistons the same weight or lighter than stock.
Now if you went cheap and got the TRW pieces that are over 600grams then yeah limit yourself rpm wise.
A signature could help us help you.
Frankly I think both of them a mistake with a self imposed 6300rpm limit especially when you went with a "bigger is better" mentality on the heads. A ported LT4 is going to want rpm to even try to work well, they are probably as responsible for the 503 cam feeling stronger as the loss of lowend from the larger dinosaur cam was.

It's was done right I made the mistake and didn't tell him I had arp rod bolts and he resized the rods with the factory bolts that's why I am not to sure if I want to spin so high and I used lighter pistons than stock

With pistons lighter than stock and rodbolts that are of OEM quality with a lighter than stock piston I would go ahead and turn it some rpm. The load on the rodbolts is ALL about piston weight and rpm.

What would you spin to with a 306

Just to be clear, responses like that are assuming the machinework has been done right. There are guys taking OEM stock shortblocks to 7000rpm, there are guys who freshen the stock shortblock with ARP rodbolts who turn it too. So if you have lighter pistons and ARP bolts the only worry left would be the quality of machinework. I have never had an engine machined but from the nightmares I have seen friends go through I would not trust even most reputable machineshops

If your sticking with those le1 heads id recommend LE's 226/234 110lsa cam which is a great street cam and will work very well with those heads. If you had LE2s then id look at something a bit bigger. Hope that helps!
