Default FTP Air Lid Clearance Issues

Has anyone ever installed a FTP air lid on a WS6 Ram Air box lower? Are there any hood clearance issues?

I have been working without my hood for several months now and I'm hpoing that there aren't any clearance problems when I go to install my hood.

I know on my regular lower air box, with ftp98 lid and my vfn ws9 hood, the top of the lid rubs on the hood. It closes, but it does rub

That's what I didnt want to hear! What kinda of crap is that!

I guess I should have fit it first to my hood prior to putting many hours in prep and paint.

Well, I will have to get the hood on, cut and fit the air lid to the hood and then prep and paint the ****** thing again!!

I have a WS.9 from US exotics, stock T/A lower box (capped off and I use a SLP air duct) and a SLP lid and I have rubbing issues. ON the stock T/A hood was fine, but this one has issues and was fitted professionally and is as good as it will ever get.

"it is what it is"

Loves that everything is painted and / or polished btw!!!

Yeah it screwed my hood lip... They claim it doesn't, but it will. I painted mine black with a small amount of electrical tape to stop the rubbing. The only hood it is not supposed to rub is the stock Z28 hood.

I want to change lids now, but need to find someone that offers a good alternative.

when I bought the ftp lid it said on the site and on an included piece of paper that it will rub.

my plan when I get it back together is to try a couple of "dots" of the fuzzy side of Velcro on the lid to stop the running. not sure if there is room though. let us know what you end up doing.

Well, I got my hood back from paint, installed it and the inner hits way hard on the air lid!!

After using the tape and crayon method to see where it is crashing, I came to the realization that I am going to have to section the damn thing and re-sculpt it.

$149 for what????

Here is the start of the rework:
