So I finally finished the build and am very happy with the results. I was shooting for somewhere in the neighborhood of 450hp and 400tq for around $5,000. I decided to go with a junk yard 6.0L Lq4. I put a set of L92 heads milled .030 stock ls3 intake with stock ls3 injectors, 92mm tb and rounded it out with a Pat G specd cam (226/234 .598 .612 lsa 113 +2). I also had Pat G tune it for me and am very impressed with his work. The car drives and acts better now than it ever has in the past. It has incredible street manners on everyday driving but delivers a hard punch with the press of the throttle. I've also got to add the last place to tune the car was lethal performance out of San Antonio, which did a horrible job for me and locked the computer without telling me about it. So when I took it all the way to Victoria the first time and found out about it I wasn't very happy at all. Then when they said they would only unlock it if i would pay for it, it really pissed me off. If anyone is thinking of taking their car to them I highly recommend reconsidering and going to talk to Pat G. Anyways I ended up putting down 466rwhp and 440rwtq for around $4300.

nice numbers and curve, im working on a turbo 5.3 budget at the moment hoping to be around the same level..

Just so this one doesn't turn into a lethal bashing thread I'll say the same thing I said in the texas section...

As the previous owner of the car (and brother to the op) I have to say that the tune from lethal was far from crap. In fact I picked up about 50rw torque and horsepower under the curve, definitely cant complain about that.

Secondly, it was the piece of shit salesman/ manager that pissed us off by trying to charge $100 for a pcm unlock. Danny (the owner) did try and make it right but by then it was just to late.

^Yessir, and that $4300 is before selling his old long block and ls6 intake. He now has a motor that could take a power adder very reliably or last just about forever as is and all for around $3500 installed.

He did do all the assembly and install work himself so that saved him a lot too.

Is it stock xx,xxx mile shortblock or freshened?

Great numbers, i just did a budget LQ9 build with the exact same cam. Was that 4000 on the engine? Do you have a price break down? I think it would be useful for the board members to see the cost vs return on the big valve heads. The same cam with stock 243s and a fast 78 intake + 85mm truck maf and the cost was a bit less;. 900 for the block, 500 for the heads, 500 intake, 600 cam, springs etc, 500 clutch, 700ish on seals, gaskets, and 300 on headers. I'll post up in this thread just so everyone can compare budget cathedral vs oval builds. I bet you're making 50 more hp for the same price.

I just bought a pair of LS3/L92 heads as cast with the .650 springs for $1000 shipped from Beau@SDPC.
I was looking for used ones and most were $500-$650 (more or less), then I needed the better springs for the cam I'm going to run...was $450-$550 for the "kit" (springs/retainers/locks).... so this was a much better option getting brand new heads and the right springs, for a lot less.

The car lost oil pressure and developed a hard knock about a month ago, didnt get a chance to make it down the track. As of now plans are for a TSP 408 with the same heads/cam as before or possibly another junkyard motor with a procharger. Either way the car should be running again by the end of the summer.

He had told me those #'s were put down through an M6
