New LS1 Owners - Newbie Tech - 2005 5.3

i have a 2005 5.3 and im looking to swap to corvette or f body accessories but my friends are telling me thats since it a 2005 it could be a 3rd or 4th gen. so i search the block it tells me it a 4.8/ 5.3 block so i search the part # off the rods and the are for 5.3. is there any way for me to find out what gen it is?

Should be a gen 4

Are the knock sensors on the side of the block down by where the oil pan bolts up, or are the underneath the intake on the valley cover?
