to my understanding lsx is ls1 ls2 ls3 ls6 ls7 ls9 so on and so on right? i have a guy telling me the lsx is 427ic or better?

any gen 3/4 based engine is a LSx, regardless of displacement or block material. LSX is the GM aftermarket block which is also LSx.

LS Series = LSx (x is substitue for a #)
LT Series = LTx (same)
GMPP Aftermarket Motors = LSX

its was this ford guy that i was messing with him telling him i was gonna spank him with my lil lsx motor. he stated asking me what it had and i told him ls1 full bolt on 100shot and then the argument started about ls1 not being lsx's. this and that started saying i didnt know anything bout my car. even called some chevy guy he knew and the guy said the same thing. i started laughing at him and told him i didn't know what type of chevy guy he was messing wit.

i knew i was right the argument went on for months !!!

In the back of my head I knew it was a Ford guy lol. He could've misunderstood you for the LSX series but still.

It's hard to tell the difference between LSX and LSx when you're talking rather than typing. I'm sure he thought you meant the LSX, which is why he said that you didn't have that engine (meaning the GMPP LSX) because you have an LS1.

I'm not sure why anyone would say they have an "LSx" when speaking of their specific car, unless they actually do have a GMPP LSX engine. Otherwise, if you know that your car has an LS1, why would you not just refer to it as an LS1?

So on that note, I totally understand what the ford guy was talking about, and in this context I too would have been confused about why you would have been referring to your specific car/engine with a generic term like "LSx" when you know that you have an LS1. I probably also would have assumed that you were referring to the GMPP engine. Again, talking is different that typing, so LSx and LSX sound the same.

I would never say out loud to anyone that "my Camaro has an LSx", I would only use that term when speaking in broad terms about these engines in general - never a specific known car....unless it actually had an LSX (GMPP).

No an lsx is more commonly known as any ls based motor

i used the term cuz i didn't really want him to know witch one i had. i said a lil lsx motor but i see what u guys are trying to say about the LSx and LSX. i still explained that to him and still argued about it. this guy is my cusin and a hard core ford guy like ford or nothing type guy..

i wont be able to get him till maybe the ending of this year he has a 96 cobra 406ci and 200shot. im going to try to get him with my 370ci that im planning to build for nitrous and hit it with 200. hes been talking shit for years. so ill be happy when i get him. hes about 6.2x's at the 1/8.

I call mine an lsx all the time. Just easier that way.
Its a rebuilt lq4 with 243 heads, ls6 intake.
Or another i got rebuilt lm7 with lr4 pistons, 241 heads ls6 intake.
