I am currently running bilsteins, and the rears are feeling a little shot. I know Koni is everyones high dollar suggestion, but why should I choose those over the cheaper KYB agx's? How about the edelbrock IAS setup? I have only really seen one post on them and the guy who had them seemed to love them.

Background on my car, it' 6 speed with bolt on's and a 12 bolt with 411's, Looking to run stock springs in the back to go TD's, hypercoils up front. I want to have an all around good handling car that I can track once in a while, would like to go to autox days at some point in the future. Thanks

contact Sam Strano. He sells more than just Koni's and has the background and reputation to back up whatever he recommends/sells.

Most people who say how great their equipment is haven't run Konis. They are expensive, though. I'd get in touch with Strano and ask for his advice.

Not everyone's car is worth 4g's. Mine is still worth 9k according to KBB. Suspension is definitely one of those things where you get what you pay for. If you want top handling then buy top parts. That's how it goes.

This again?
1.) Not all of us drive junkers.
2.) $730 to make your "$4000" car handle/feel like a $50,000 is a HELL of a deal.

So why the ls6 Intake on your $4k car when you could of just kept the ls1.
Why the drilled & slotted rotors when you coulda kept the stockers.
An aftermarket 2800 Stall when you coulda just kept it stock and saved money for your new nicer car.
Why the Cam or anything.

Hell why even motor oil in a $4k car when you can just use water mixed with some sand.

what kind of moron bothers putting anything??? :jest:

Koni shocks are terrific, but yes, the entry fee is a little steep. There is currently a sale that makes these shocks 20% off, putting them in a more affordable segment. We are essentially giving you free lowering springs when you buy the shocks as well. So, for the $735, you get shocks and springs. That makes the price a little easier to swallow, for sure. But, that doesn't mean that there aren't shock options out there, but if you're looking to upgrade from the Bilsteins, the Konis are hard to beat.

Some of us don't care what the "book value" of the car is. My wanted mod list for my car exceeds the purchase price of the car by a fair bit but guess what? I don't care because I bought it for ME and want to turn it into what I want, and not for what someone else feels it is worth.

My opinion to the OP question as to why koni's over the agx's...I had the agx's set to 6 in the rear on my daily driven ls1 for 4 months and bought them new from tire rack. To put out there, I'm a 215 lbs guy and my miles allotted daily were less then 25. The driver side started to get softer to the point where on the 3rd month I ran the driver side on 8 and the pass side still on 6. On the 4th month the driver side just blew out. I mean I hit a mild bump on the Fwy onramp and the driver side rear bounced crazy while the rest of the car was firmly planted. Now for the ride quality its way better then stock, yes, but how to put it...my koni's SA on car adj, out of the box, set at 0 (no turns on the adjuster) was firmer then the Kyb agx set at 6.

Don't know if Kyb offers lifetime warranty but koni's do. Another reason to get them in my book.
