Generation IV Internal Engine - will this cam still work?

i originally had futural grind a cam for my 418 with ls3 heads, now the 418 is down for awhile so i was wondering if the cam will work in a 6.0l with the ls3 heads for now.
the cam specs 236/248 .640 .629 112+4 it was designed to match the heads, so i don't really see a problem with running that cam

Don't see why not, all its going to do is sound a little choppier and bring up your rpm band.

Better check you ptv with that big ole' thing. You'll lose some bottom end for sure.

I think that cam will be too big... TSP sells a 231/237 .615 111 or there about and its about the biggest most go with.

You think so? I run a 230/238 in a heavy car with a ls1. I would think he could get away with a good bit more cam with the good heads and more cubes.
Mine is the first car I've tuned and it came out better than my professionally tuned 230/224. Doesn't seem big at all...the car drives better under the curve than it did with the smaller cam.

Side note-
The Ls3/L92 heads like completely different cams than Ls1/Ls6 style heads.
The valves are the main reason, they tend to like small-mid size cams, in comparison... The large donkey dick cams (similar to what an Ms4 in an ls1 would be) don't really shine like they do in ls1s.
Completely different approach to a completely different design.
What is considered mid size in a 418 isn't quite the same in a 364.

i was runnin the vengence racing vindicator cam but the futural said those ls3 heads like a different kind of cam so they cut me that one, it was in my 418 for a week, then it spun a main bearing, so i figure i got a spare 6.0l sittin there why not throw it together and run it the rest of summer.

I have a 240/251 from Geoff @EPS and TSP also sells a cam that is 251/259 that has made 646hp on an engine dyno but those are for 418 cube motors. Geoff has one listed on his site though that is 230/246 and he recommended it to me when I was going to go stock cube ls3.
bmw5388 (I guess thats his sceen name) on here was just spec'd a 230/242 by geoff for a 370 cube motor with LS3 heads and that cam has been making 500 rwhp in 5th gen camaros according to geoff.
Geoff has also recommended my same cam for subhumanzz on here that is running 9's on the motor with a LS3 headed motor. I can't remember the cubes but I know his motor is smaller than mine

so what kinda numbers should i expect from the big cam and ported ls3 heads on that 6.0l? its a 72cc combustion chamber with a lq4 dish piston and .053" thick head gaskets so my compression has to suck. i didnt calculate it but i figured 9:1

Bww3588....close.
230/242, but I have valve reliefs in my pistons. If your spare 6.0 has stock pistons, that cam will never clear with the huge valves.

Just read your last post. The dish in the lq4 piston does nothing for ptv. It still has the ridge around the outside which is just as high as a flat top, and the valve will hit it.
Your not going to Be able to run much of a cam in that engine with ls3 heads. Esp not the one you already have.

I honestly dont think that cam would fit either...you have to remember how massive the LS3 intake valve is...I suppose you could slap it together quick and get a measurment on it, but I wouldnt bet the farm on it fitting.
Geoff is a master when it comes to caming a ls3 headed engine

i checked ptv clearance and it was fine, ive been running the big stroker cam in the 6.0l for a few weeks now and you all called it, there is no bottom end and a ton of top end, if it wasnt a stock bottom end it would probly shine between 4 and 8-9k lol
