New LS1 Owners - Newbie Tech - Just bought 99 Z28....tune up time

Hey there everyone,
I'm new to these forums and new to these cars. I know a little bit about them here. Just bought a 1999 Z28 convert. with a 6spd. I'm getting ready to do a complete tune up on the car...ie. fluids, plugs, plug wires, belt, ect.

I just had a few questions though....the car has a flowmaster catback, ported MAF, and a diablo tune(getting a better one soon). So my questions are:
1. What kind of oil would be best to run in this car?
2. Any recommened brand of plugs & plug wires? have read should be gapped between .050 & .060 is this correct?
3. what kind of tranny fluid is recommened?

I use Mobil 1 oil in an 0W40 weight, and either NGK TR55 plugs gapped at .055" with stock wires, or Delco iridium stock replacement plugs (.040" factory gap for this plug type) with stock wires.

There are a lot of people that like MSD wires, I don't see a need for them unless your stock ones are worn/damaged. There are MANY opinions on oil, there will be someone that likes or dislikes just about every possibile oil that you could imagine. Feel free to search through all the threads about this if you want to gather several opinions on the topic before making a choice.

I run Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic motor oil with NGK TR55 and factory replacement wires. Next time around I'm switching to MSD wires. No complaints with what I have just have heard great things about the MSD's.

And I've never changed any trans fluid if I don't know for sure it's been changed regularly before me, I just add to it. Also throw a fuel filter in your list for good measure too. .40-50 is ok as far as gap.

So just got back from the store....ended up getting the NGK TR55 plugs, MSD 8.5mm wires, Mobile 1 5W30(store didn't have 0W40), recharge kit for my K&N air filter, Wix oil & fuel filter, gotta go back at 330 to get the wires and get new front rotors and pads & a belt.
Always gotta forget something when you go to the store right!
