I had one of these before that turned out to be alot of fun. My old setup was just a regular ls1 with bolt ons on 9lbs of boost. I was guessing 570-580's. ended up at 600 on the dot. that motor is now gone. and the new setup is coming together very very fast at this point. So lets see just how close we can get this time. I will be very detailed as to what is going into it this time.
1. Forged AES 390 LQ9 Iron Block
* Diamond -15cc Pistons
*Callies C-Series 3.8xx Crank
* 6.125 Rods w/ ARP 2000's
2. PRC 237cc Heads w/ 68cc chambers and 84cc runners.
3. LS9 Head Gaskets w/ 1/2 inch Head Studs
4. Lonnies Dual Intanks w/ bells and whistles
5.Bosch 127lb injectors
6. D1SC procharger maxed out.
7. A2A ATI FMIC
8. Brutespeed Blower Cam- 232/240 .595/608 @ 115lsa
9. Performabuilt Stg. 3 4l65e
10. 3600 PTC stall converter
11. E85 fuel
12. High Volume Oil Pump, Ls2 water pump
13. Aster Bracket
14. 3.55- 3.4 pulley based on a 6550 RPM range.
15. MWC 9'' with 3:55 gears
16. Alkycontrol Methanol Kit
17. Mild Tune between conservative and Aggressive.

I got my AES 390 on the K member right now and just received my Aster bracket. I'm still waiting on Lonnies double pump fuel system with 80 lbs injectors. Once that's here everything is going on. Got a basic tune from Frost so I can break in the motor before dynoing. Anyway the Akly Control will go on later and will be tuned by Dallas Performance. Frazier advised me that with my setup I would be looking at 700-750 rwhp with the two 4.5 procharger intercoolers I still have, it's an M-6 also. Hey Frazier how much timing did you say these motors like or don't like?? Keep us posted on the power you get dude very intrested...

Man! It is you who should keep me posted. Icrazy6 and another guy with a 91mm are the only other guys I know with these motors making a number. He is running 9.40's on his, and its getting faster with the tuning help of LMR. He is at 1150rwhp and its holding strong.

Now to me, personally, since you have the 390 as well and a D1- with a small pulley, I would expect those numbers to be alot higher. I mean I made 600rwhp with 9lbs on my 228R LS1. Is that through a mustang dyno or something.....or are you actually running bolts ons and a brutespeed blower like I am. seems awful low to me. 35thcamaroSS (Brandon) is running 670+ right now on his stock ls1. we are both running 4.0-4.13 pulleys.

Well, I'm back from my Vacation. I don't know how much timing, they didn't keep the boost log so I have no clue on boost I'm running. When driving it hard to concentrate on the gauge when in boost.
They (Speed) said that the shift points are set low because it kept spinning on the street tires, I think they said around 6K. A/F is right about 12.0 on the dyno graph. I thought it would have more in it as well with the small pulley, but it is on the stock J-bracket. I didn't have the funds for the Aster. I'm also using Pacesetter 1 3/4" headers to a magnaflow exhaust, no cats.
So, what should it be putting down? I have to go back for them to fix the tuning. It hunts for idle after running for a while and to have the shift point set correctly.
It's tuned for pump gas 93 Octane.

Anyone have anything to add to why my car should be putting more to the ground? I have the car back in the shop and getting a few things change. My air filter lasted a week, due to how they had the surge valve installed it was blowing dust right into the filter.
They are also reseting the shift points, idle adjustment, and fixing a few other flaws that I found having the car for a week.

your list of parts say, 800rwhp, all the power is in the tune/ + boost. if you asked SPEED for a conservative tune, that sounds like what you have! the power you are making now im sure is no joke! it might take 10-12 psi, with 19-20 degrees of timing to make the 800 number?

Well, after they get done with it this time I will know what my boost level is, amount of timing they are running. I was hoping to be around 700rwhp and more rwtq but the loss through the A4 and 9" is a lot.

I think I may be able to figure out the formula to tell me what blower RPM you are running. Not necessarily boost, but it will let us know how far you have to go on the D1. You most likely need to spin it up to 6500-6700 to get the max from the centri.
So let me think about this
To determine the impeller speed, the following formula is used:
Maximum impeller speed = crankshaft pulley diameter (N1) divided by supercharger pulley diameter (N2),multiplied by the step-up ratio (4.10 for the P-series/D series - 5.40 for the F series), multiplied by engine rpm at redline.
Max impeller speed on the D-1SC is 62,000 rpm.
The crank pulley is a 7.65
Figure on a 3.40 blower pulley
4.10 step up ratio
6500 rpm
so 7.65 / 3.4 x 4.1 x 6000 = 55,350 rpm on your blower. you still have almost 7k more rpm to get out of it. And since most people with the d1 and a similar setup get between 14-16lbs of boost we will add those two together.....get 28 and divide by two to get an average......of 14.....and assume that that will be your max boost (prob setting the bar low actually) . so we take 62000 and divide it by 14. and get 4,428.6 per lb of boost.
then we take your 55,350 blower speed, and divide by our rpm/boost comparison. comes out to 12.5lbs of boost.
let me know how close I got when you actually get the logs. This was just some numbers fun.

Very Nice! Where did you get 6500 for redline? I belive that Speed has set redline somewhere around 6800. Found out yesterday my idler pulley on the j-bracket was machined incorrectly and causing a groove in my belt, so that's getting replaced along with the puller fan. Should have a boost number for you by Friday.

Its mainly a question for the person tuning the car, however when Jim at Speed tuned my GTO, ran 14º of timing, never had an issue on pump fuel, 630rwhp daily driven.

If your talking about me my names Brandon and running 4.25 pulley made 668rwhp std 565rwtq taking it up to 6600rpms 19 degrees of timing. Spraying two 10gph meth nozzles and running meth dependent tune. this was through t56 and 10 bolt I now have a 9" and will be dyno it again at some point this summer to see the change.

yeah sry. im horrible with names. I am glad you are on the 9'' now. You were certainly making that 10 bolts last days some hard ones. haha. yeah. you were making around 640 and now even more apparently since the upgrade. your car is a beast.

what did that setup consists of as far as power adder and boost levels etc....sounds to me that is a real conservative tune. I will obviously be running more since I have meth and E85. Not because I can, because I should....otherwise why go e85 in the first place if I cant safely pull some extra power. I am guessing 16-17 max depending on how things go. I am sure we could prob get more out of it, but I know that e85 switches to winter blend. I have contacted Shell about when the switch takes place, so I can load multiple tunes into my laptop for when that occurs.

well, when Bob and I were spec'ing out what pulley size i would need for this motor to max the d1, that was the smallest I could get. On my stock ls1 and cam we set the limiter to 6500...so that was where we started...I added 200 RPM and it brought the blower right where it needed to be with a lil room to spare. It will literally make power all the way till redline, and still have 200rpm to go. I look forward to making that boost down low one day with the f1. But I am sure for the time being this will be fun being that I have never ridden in a procharged vehicle. Well, other than my own when I took it to the dyno shop. That was a fun ride, with no fascia, and the intercooler and all.....people at red lights looking over at me .....like what the hell did he hit, and prob assuming I have a severe belt issue with all that sqealing. lol

I do enjoy the power I have! It's nice to know that there's still room to grow with my set up. As far as the amount of timing I'll find that out Friday when I pick up the car. I forsee a F1 in my future, but there's plenty of other things that will have to be done prior to that.

looks like alot of us are running a full catback. i wonder what gains would be like with a cutout. i am guessin like 30-40 more. and removing the blower hat will net some impressive gains too. torque may not jump that much, but should help her breathe. thats just inspiration for us to custom fab a new intake hat as some have done. I think they use 5 ply silicone, and it doesnt collapse as long as its not all that long.
