Matte black face and inside barrels. Gloss black lips.

17x9.5 & 17x11

Some may like it and some may not. Makes me wish my car was white or a 35th Anniversary SS.

Yeah, I have a set of technipolish FM10 on the car right now. These were for sale in the parts forum for a long time. They were the nasty looking blue ones that no one wanted to buy. I picked them up, got a new inner hoop because one was cracked, bought new hoops to widen the rears to 11", and powdercoated them.

I promise you this, with some sand paper, buffer and some polish I could have gotten them back. 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 then buff.

Aluminum is soft, if nothing else I would have at least tried it.

Your ideas are exactly what I thought too when I undertook the project. I thought it would be badabing badaboom sand them out, white rouge polish, DONE. I tried sanding, but it would have taken way too many hours. Even media blasting was too long.

I used a solvent to strip most of the coating off. But even after that they needed way more elbow grease, time, and energy than I was willing to put into them. So off to the powdercoater they went. I'm glad I did. He did a great job.

I learned my lesson on trying to strip and redo powdercoating.

I'm guessing the OP is trying to mix the red line tire looks of the late 60's on a modern wheel and tire. That look would probably be awesome on a mid to late 60's resto-mod/pro-touring GTO. Not so sure about a modern muscle car though.

You can strip powder coat, it comes off.

The wheels are aluminum, there is a LOT you can do to save aluminum.

Buy 10 gallons of aircraft paint stripper, buy a big washtub or cut the bottom out of a plastic 55 gallon drum.

Or buy some stuff called LAVACOL acid, paint it on with a paint brush and let it set. It will eat it off.

I had a Hayabusa, I used aircraft stripper on the lips of the wheels to get a polished lip, took it right off.

If nothing else I would have called Fikse and asked about it.

Fikse wheels are like diamonds, why do that to them?

Just saying, take some time and do some research. All the info you need is at your fingertips.

It was around $600 to have it all done. These cost a little more because I had to have a couple of the thread holes retapped due to a prior owner using red loctite and me not knowing it when I was disassembling them.

My dad runs a bodyshop so I could have painted them for cheaper, but I wanted the powdercoating strength.

PM SilverGhost on this site if you're interested in having anything powdercoated. He did the powdercoating and it turned out very nice with a consistent finish on all parts. I recommend his work.

Hope to have some mounted pics tomorrow.

There are lots of companies out there that do polishing and reconditioning on wheels, some use automated machinery for it, others by hand but one things for sure, a little buffing rpm sure helps.

I'm a big fan of black... when I'm up close and can actually see the lines of the wheel. From 20' away they all look like a 70's dodge wheel, minus the hubcap; no real definitive lines. That's just MY opinion and that doesn't mean shite where your car is concerned.

If YOU like it, then that's really all that matters. Either way, these turned out great! Props to whoever worked them.

Yep, when the car is rolling you cant tell WHAT they are. 20 feet away you cant tell WHAT they are.

A polished FM5 you(I) can tell rolling or across the parking lot what they are.

I've tried using aircraft stripper on a set of smoothie 2s I had yrs ago, the powder coating didn't come "right off". I abandoned the project and sold them. For most of us, our time is worth more than messing wheels for hours. I think the black fikses look bad ass. The gloss/flat contrast is sick. Probably one of the best finishes I've seen.

And I wouldnt have put that hood on that you have on your z28, but to each their own. We all have different preferences.

This is going to look weird on a navy blue car....the red pinstripe kills it brother. Whoever painted/powdered those wheels blue should be banned from modding cars.

The polished finish would look 100000% better than the black and I am the biggest advocate of black wheels.

The red stripe would look great on any red, black or white car that had a few red accents. If the stripe matched the body color you'd be in business.

Couldnt agree more. I have an NBM car with the same wheels OP has on it now. Techni-polish finish with polished lips jut fit NBM so well. I would never put a black wheel on a navy blue car. Im still in for pictures though and would like to be proved wrong that it can look good, I wont totally knock it until I actually see it. Nothing wrong with going outside the box either..

Agree with both comments. The technipolish is a really great finish and looks great against pretty much all colors. As far as putting the fm5's on this car while the car is nbm, my long tern goal is to repaint it. The paint is definitely a 10 footer. I may get my wish early since the car just got hit a few weeks ago.

I'm thinking matte silver or matte white for the car. My dad has an autobody and paint shop so the biggest roadblock is finding time.

Ohh man tell me if those in a Bronze without the red pin stripe will look good or in Grey/cyber grey will look good in my NBM WS-6
