Street Racing & Kill Stories - Built motor magnacharged 5th gen SS VS k20 turbo civic

Last night my buddy took his piston and rod setup k20 on boost, not many people wanted to run or were worth running, After trying to setup a run with a 750cc bike (which the guy had no idea how to line up properly) he said fuck it came back to the spot and thats when i got there we hung out and were trying to find my buddy some runs. Towards the end of the meet we noticed a really really nice 5th gen ss on some big and little CCW's on a 325 DR out back. We asked the guy if he was down for a run he said sure they talked what roll they each wanted and they decided on a 50 roll. So they line up and this is how it went down. Owner of the SS said he would be down to re-run for cash and he would up the boost. Edit: SS also had a cam in it.
Link bellow. Owner of the SS was real cool and said around 130 is when the civic came by flying.
Before people talk shit the car has been out for 2 days, i think they are going to setup the boost by gear sometime this week and get some lower rolls in

What power level the civic...?
Depending on that power I will tell you exactly what the 5th gen has.

civic makes low 6's right now, its maxing out the 3bar map sensor.

Not sure, first time out it ran into some issues. But at this power level it should be something in the low to mid 140 range.

nice but i doubt thats a built engine ss.. one around my level will be trapping 130.. throw in a built engine youre knocking on 140.. the way the civic flew by seems like juat another 600rwhp ss tbh. maybe im missing something. strong civic nonetheless..

Guy said he would up the boost on it for a re-run so not sure if 600whp is pushing the stock motor or not but im just posting up what the guy told my buddy.

the k20 motor is a very powerful motor and has lots of potential. Its def like the ls motor for camaros/firebirds.

There is an SS here t hat makes right around 660-680whp. He says different every time. But he has forged internals, Cam. Heads, maggie 3.73 gears. He trapped best of 128 on street tires. He is scarred to put it on DR's as he fearsd breaking an axle. He is also a manual. From 45-125 we was dead even. With some tires and launching I see him trapping 130-132. Also at 125-140 he pulled so his rear bumper was at my front. This was before some changes to my car. His is now in the shop getting more work done. Looking for 800whp.

Tell him to stop being a cheap ass and throw on some axles they only like a grand.

Yeah Ive always seen them as the LSx of the 4cyl world IMO that and the 4g63 are probably the 2 best 4cyl i can think of.

Its not disappointing, just because someone has a built motor doesn't mean they come out on high boost or with their A game everyday. Im pretty sure he was on moderate boost and by no means making what a built motor should be making, hence why he stated he would turn the boost up. No biggie guy was really cool and upfront about everything.
Edit: As is the civic, its on moderate boost right now. Whats holding him back is his MAP sensor, 5 bar map sensor and cams should be on sometime soon to turn the boost up.

It's a supercharger lol. Not a turbo. On PDs you can't just up boost with a controller like you can on centris. I don't know many people who swap pulleys in and out all the time depending on who they running because of tension/belt slippage/setting issues. But hey... maybe there are some nut jobs out there.

I know, the guy said he'd turn the boost up so? Like i said im just going by what he told us.
Civic is ready, he just needs to dial in the boost by gear. Hopefully he listens to me instead of just chucking the boost up and adding the cams before dialing in the boost by gear.

I highly doubt on pump but whatever. Don't stand to close to it if it is on pump because it's about to blow. Sure it matters what gas it's on, just like it matters if someone is spraying, just like it matters if someone is on slicks......etc.

Yeah, its on E85. No need to argue with someone who compares a form of fuel to nitrous. lol

Am i missing something?? Last time I checked you have to still change out pullies to make boost adjustments on centris...

I calling complete BS that a forged 5th gen with a maggie traps anywhere close to 140.
Show me some proof that they do.
Problem with the Maggie is that its a small blower. Even on stock cubes it would be easy to max the blower out on a forged engine. Id agree with Ohio. 128-132 TOPS @ full weight. Now take out some weight and throw in a shot then yea it could hit 140 or more just not gonna do it with a maggie alone. Big twin screw would get it done also.

I read somewhere you can do a wastegate setup with centris and setup a boost controller. Almost 100% sure it's been done.
I read built engine thinking it was a big cube engine. I didn't read into it enough to see it was only a forged bottom end. With our cubes at moderate boost (8lbs) you can easily get 130 traps. All i'm saying is for the civic to have pulled him that hard that thing must be trapping much less.

Im throwing out trap speeds out of what I THINK it would trap. I wouldn't base your bench racing on that lol. Car should trap anywhere from low 140s to low 150s. Some where in that range.

Either way if I got raped that hard with a 600+ rwhp setup I'd be thinking up ways to make my car fly haha.

4000lbs @600rwhp = 2000lbs @ 300hp
2000lbs @600hp = 4000lbs @ 1200hp
correct?
(this is assuming all other things equal i.e. traction and what not)

Torque torque torque. Weight matters less at higher speeds.
Too many factors.

You can do it this way. But it can be a PITD. I rather keep it setup to just change pulley.
One I know local is going to a 427 lsx block with smallest pulley Maggie makes. And a specially shaft for it. I knew some one else ran that shaft on his 408/Maggie G8. He broke 2-3 of them. He is now TT.
