Default Would this work?

Had an idea today. In NY we need a front plate, but I hate it and want to buy a cover. Instead of doing a hide-a-way, could you buy a clear one, VHT it, and somehow put a strip of LEDs in it, so when you flip a switch the inside lights your plate up? Would it work, or would light just come out and not show the plate? I'd be cool to have just a black plate cover until you hit the switch. Wonder of its possible.

It works theoretically, but don't use VHT to do it because it'll look blotchy. I would just use a cool, weather resistant semi-transparent vinyl.

What he said, try some window tint vinyl. You can get that at walmart even.

Keep us posted. If it were me, I'd just put the plate on the air dam.

no its wont. i tried it when i was making the front bird light up so it would be black and light up.. it didnt turn out good at all, you cant remove it and it looks like a nasty **** brown when not lit. and it takes alot of light to light it up.

That's what I was afraid of. Does anyone have a hideaway plate on the front of a trans am?

Even if it would work, they would still try and ticket you for obstructing the plate by putting something over it.
