Drag Racing Tech - IHRA 11.49 cage rule? Altered floor or firewall?

Looking at the IHRA rules which my local track ia part of it says cage required if floorwell or firewall is altered. They tell me at my trackshop ANY car faster 11.50 its required. Is this true and if so how are all these bone stock Vettes, GTR's, vipers, Ferrari's, bugatti's running 10's online over and over going for records without being kicked off the track?

And for that matter they dont have driveshaft safety loops, fire extinguisher, fire jackets, 5 point harnesses either

It's been this way for many many years. Some tracks enforce it and some don't care because they know it's crazy to have so many people running stock vehicles being kicked off the track.

As for me I get kicked off the NHRA tracks for not having an NHRA license when I run a full pass sometimes. All other safety equipment is in but I'm an insurance risk without it. So.....if you want no hassles then make sure you do what's necessary. Or don't go to the tracks that kick you out.

The IHRA tracks that I frequent wouldn't even look twice at a low 11 second car. low 8's and quicker and they might just ask you to slow down or hit the road.

Alot of these passes are done on track rental days.

The same way a lot of us have been running around for years dodging tech and being limited to the 1/8th mile after making one 1/4 mile pass. I am ordering a Wolfe 6 point tomorrow! So I will be somewhat legal in the future. :thumb:

I am upgrading to a 10point soon. Just need to get the courage/energy to pull the dash to do it.

Thanks guys, I guess me and my much faster buddy and just gonna have to see how long they let him run this year. He ran a couple low 11's last year in Test and Tune but teching in this year they warned he will be kicked off the track if he consistently does it and since last year he's picked up 160whp and shed some weight hoping for some low 10's
