Default Will claying a car remove wax and polish?

I need to clay my car and wanted to know if that will remove wax or polish. It's fine if it does, I'm applying fresh stuff polish. If the clay bar removes it, can I skip the dawn wash?

IMO i would wash the car really good with any car wash soap with or without wax will be just fine.then clay-bar it.then seal it with something like clear coat sealant.and then hit with good wax.

No because your going to be using a detail spray for lubricant anyways. So it would be like wiping your car down with detail spray only using clay instead of a microfiber.

1.wash with dawn soap to remove any oils
2.claybar to remove any wax and junk stuck to the paint
3. Wash with what you normally use
4. Apply polish

Do you wash with any type of Dawn soap? For example, is there a Dawn type of soap to stay away from bc it can do harm to the paint?

A mild bath of dawn first wouldn't hurt. Using clay is suppose to take off most waxes and sealants. Then you'll be fine to machine polish. You should wipe down the car afterwards with isopropyl alcohol to get rid of any waxes and polishing residue. Then you can wax it.

Yes it will remove wax and polish, if it didnt, it would be pointless! It it didnt remove wax, it def wouldnt remove all the other trash on your paint.
