So some of you might remember me. I was going the head gasket job on the lt1. Well all was well and the motor pulled strong but just recently spun a rod bearing. shi* happens. So I am looking for another motor to put in and wanted your alls advice. Do people just spend 1400 - 2000 on a stock lt1 replacement or is there something better "cheaper without sacraficing numbers" that I could go with? Thanks in advance.

You could try Golen Engine Service. Get their 383 shortblock or just use their engine service to redo your motor.

Another thing is to check your local craigslist and to check with Hawks third gen.

They have a used shortblock on ebay with a starting bid of 250 bucks
