Default MTI tb noise

Well put my MTI tb on a day ago and it makes a weird noise when I start it up, then eventually dies out. Seems as though it's the air passing through it, I'm not sure. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Not sure what it is Mine sounds like a blower at start-up.

My bbk sounds like a supercharger also. I don't know what the hell causes it but it seems to be pretty normal.

It's the idle air passage squealing. as the iac opens the noise goes away , i smoothed out the sharp corners in the iac passage and that helped.

Yes mine is the 78mm. Some sites list it at 75mm as stock. I just thought it was abnormal. If you guys are getting the same supercharging sound when you start the engine up it must be normal. It does die out after a few seconds, I was just worried ya know. I PM some MTI guys from this sight and I will have to see what they say when they get back to me. I just hope it's normal!!!!

Nothing to worry about. When TB's are ported, the hole for idle air is reduced. Upon startup, the IAC motor opens to allow enough air in to maintain a good idle. As the engine stabilizes, the IAC motor closes, making the sound go away. Since the hole is smaller, the air being sucked in causes a whistling sound. It's even louder if you have a cam with idle tuning, since the IAC is told to open even more. You should hear mine when I start up. Not an issue.
