Default I got my texas speed true duals in today.. Is this going to be a problem?

Ok, so,

I got my true duals in today, and i chose sweet thunders as my muffler of choice.

But the merge looks really funky to me. Compared to my friends, it just doesnt seem right.

Thats what I got ^^^

This is my friends EXACT same setup (tsp true duals sweet thunders), see how his merge is different?

heres a side by side ^^^

So my question is,
Is this a newer design that Im not aware of, perfectly normal setup with a proper merge, or a defect of some kind from texas speed?

I havent put these on yet, and I am kinda hesitant to do so... looks like its not going to flow right TBH.. Im sure it'll work but, Id like some thoughts and opinions before i do so. I'm giving TSP a call tomorrow during lunch and see what they say

Looks like mine do.

Wait. It's late and I'm dumb. Lol. Mine looks like your friends. Not like the one you got. Weird!

I don't like the look of that X. The merge doesn't look like it'll flow well, but I'm no engineer.

I like your friends better.

I don't really like the look of the new X either, the center section looks to small!

That looks terrible. Mine look like your friends. I would pm Jon@texasspeed and refer him to this thread...maybe he can shed some light.

That x looks horrible and I can see it being a problem.

There is definitely something wrong there.

I know Aaron & Matt are awesome with customer service; They'll take care of it.

I'd be willing to bet if you put a caliper in the middle of the X it would be just under 3". Too much was cut from each elbow before it was welded together.

yeah I dont have any gripe with tsp, it got shipped to the house quick. I just dont see how that merge got the OK from inspection for street use.. I dont have the time to be shipping and recieving merges to be honest, I still need to have my tranny to get built, and order m stand alone.. Seriously tho, I'm not mad or upset cuz i know tsp are great guys and have nothing but good intentions, but I am a lil sad by this.

I'll keep everyone updated as to what happens

While that does look like complete crap and I'm surprised it made it out of their shop, mistakes do happen occasionally.

I am certain TSP will make it right for you though

That is horrible! Hope they take care of you fast. I hate it when things like this happen and the project becomes delayed.

Exchanged a few emails with texas speed, Matt is a class act. Hopefully everything breaks even in the end.

Srry to jack, But I just so happened to be on the phone with my parents and she told me my exhaust came in today as well. Looks like mine is a little worse than his. Doesnt look to be shipping to me.

Alright guys, we've figured out when and where and how the change took place. The manufacturer made a tooling change without notifying us, which is why it went un-noticed until now. The pipe locations are still in the exact same spot, and fitment is not affected in any way! Speaking with the exhaust manufacturer and a few other exhaust "experts" from big name manufacturers, they were all in agreement that this would not make any significant difference on horsepower or torque production.

So while we are not pleased with this change being made made without our consent, we do feel confident that they still fit and perform as good or better than any other system available on the market today. Please call us for RMA number if you want to exchange for the new X when they arrive.

Thanks!

Might as well stick with a y pipe setup then. The size of the x pipe where it gets skinny is no bigger than one of the single pipes. Kinda defeats the purpose of true duals no matter what "experts from big name manufacturers" say.

Do you guys plan to go back with the original design eventually?

Our next run will be back to the old tooling. That X is still better than 90%+ of the Y-pipe/catback combos on the market!

Can the OP or someone with the new design take a measurement to see what the diameter of the center of the x pipe is?

If it's only 3" in the center, I can't possibly see how this can outflow a regular y pipe with a good merge. When looking at the old design, it is clearly twice the size in the middle of the X.

will do,

I also was considering taking it to a local dyno to see a benchmark between the two; Since i have both readily available.
