Default stalled auto dig race: 427 Firebird/402 GTO

This happened awhile back but just got video.

Me: "So your cars tune is fully done and cars broken in right? Your new 325 series drag radials are hooking good and broken in also? Sooo... You wanna be the first guy to beat me from a dig on the street then?" (referring to beatin me out of the hole not overall)
Him: "Right now, let's do it."

Oops, I didn't think he wanted to go right now! Had my spare still in the trunk along with a trunk full of groceries and beer. And my 250+lb brother in the passenger seat... but I can't back out after my stupid cocky comment so we went. Out of pitty for the unequal race (he's at 601rwhp n/a) he grabbed a passenger that was almost my size who had a camera.

My car is in sig; basically a stout built, mid level cam'd 402 built to last 60k+ miles of daily driver duty. His car is built to the hilt, on E85 (13.7 to 1 compression), Mast black label heads, etc. Both cars on 3600 stalls and 3.70/3.73 gears and sticky tires.

Video from Firebird. There's more to the video that would make this an EPIC post but owner edited it out for legal reasons.

Nice run. Looks like you were spinning a bit out of the hole.

Not spinning so much as babying the throttle. That road is fairly dirty so traction isn't the best. I got the best launch I could with conditions that were there.

He came around you hard from spinning. It's really hard to come around car making around 500whp ish on motor. Looked like a little more then a car length and was still pulling until he let out. Good run.

The only thing that would make this video better is if the firebird wrecked at the end

From having raced him and Diet Coke, I'd give the nod to Diet for a roll race, and him for the dig race on a unprepped street. Those 5th gens just don't like to hook from a dig for some weird reason.

As far as him coming around me, like against Diet Coke once I go into drive and they can fully use all there power my gig is up. The problem is compounded with the fact that my 3rd gear is my achilles heel: car seems to fall on its face when I go into drive and even CTS-V's can hang with me from a roll starting at 70mph or higher.

Naw man, I can't say any more then I've said. Up to Firebird driver to post the rest of the story when he's ready.

If my brother would have kept the camera rolling right after our race we could have topped that lambo video easily.
