Default need cam advise...

ok i got a cam dirt cheap with 300 miles on it. specs are : 228/230 .585"/.585" 112 lsa. my 02 ws6 is bone stock besides a slp dual/dual a lid and a ftra. is this too much cam for my car? and what else would i need to install it? im picking up lt headers and a catted y-pipe. also how will a cam like this act? is it hide-able?

i was thinking this cam, a 100hp shot of nitrous and either 243 or 317 heads. im leaning towards the 243, but i have read that the 317s are much better with juice... also a dual tune pcm as i will not be using the juice all that much...

...advise please.....

thanks in advance
Bruce

good size cam for a daily driver. Since you are an auto, you will need a stall. Atleast a 3600 stall.

No it's not to much, I run a very similar sized cam in my engine and when people hear it they'll know it has a cam in it. If you want to cut down on how noticeable it is then run a catted Y-pipe and a magnaflow cat-back, with a A4 trans you'll need a 3400-4000 stall TC.. I'd get the stall in there first, then headers/catted Y-pipe/cat-back, then the cam.

+1 on this^^, and you should be good with the dual/dual just make sure you get a good tune after the suggestion above from 99Bluz28, follow the order, unless you can do everything at the same time.

Definitively 243's, I'm not too familiar with n20 so don't know about that one though.

Lol, why would he need ATLEAST a 3600? Technically he only NEEDS a stall big enough to let the engine idle properly with the new cam..

Yes, nitrous is not cylinder head specific. You can run whatever heads you like. the 243s will give you higher compression over the 317s.

you can also use 799 heads.you will need a tune.you will need hardened push rods, and consider a ls2 timing chain and get some new lifters and trays.also consider upgrading your rocker arm trunnion bearings with the compcam kit.

I have a very similar cam with 243's and a 100 shot on my D-D car and I love the 112 and that size cam. People definatly know you got one. I put magna flows on mine to make it quiet and then put a e-cutout on for when you wanna show ur ***! Great cam acts great with 100 shot. ENJOY!
