New LS1 Owners - Newbie Tech - heads and cam

Looking To buy heads and cam for ls1. Wondering if anybody can give me some suggestions on which type are better.

what are you trying to achieve?
here we always go with CNC 243's but the cam depends on what setup your heading towards to get the best out of it.

looking for 400-425?

CNC 243's or 5.3 heads... with the right cam/intake and TB...

looking for 500 range...

go aftermarket

trex, ms4, ms3, and predator are i think the most common cams i hear up here

MAST is supposed to be top notch. they are expensive heads though. AFR and trick flow ALSO HAVE EXCELLENT REPS.

Really depends what you want out of the car, without more info I cant make a good suggestion. The cam in my WS6 was a Comp custom grind 228 232 595 595 112 LSA, with milled .030 243 heads, full bolt ons LS6 intake and no cats/ LT's made 424 RWHP 389 RWTQ on a dynojet and had a great torque curve.

If you get a huge donkey dick cam you're gonna lose torque and driveability on the low end, but it will scream up top. All depends on what you want. 243's/799's if you're on a budget, AFR's if you've got the scratch. My .02 cents and good luck

Horsepower goals? Daily driver? How much money do you want to spend?

It's pretty hard to answer which one is better without the above information.

Most people that dont want to research much go with the 228r cam from tsp and a set of their ls6 heads.
