Fueling & Injection - Test out leaky injectors?

Is their any way to test for leaky injectors? I took out my fuel rail and LS6 intake, someone told me to connect the fuel line to the rail with the injectors on it and you could see if its leaking?

As long as the rails are bolted onto the intake, doing that could tell if any are leaky.

no what i mean is that if the injectors are on the rail but not on the LS6 intake it would still leak???

yeah not start the car just prime in on position since i want to know if I have a leaky injector so what is the best way to do it?

do you have a fuel pressure gauge? there is actually a tool to do what you are talking about, but it is impractical to buy just for yourself unless you're a tool junkie. basically it install on the fuel rail's input between it and the feed line. you cut the pump on for a bit, then close the valve on the tool. then you look to see if the pressure drops. if it does, you got a leaking injector. if not (and you have a loss of fuel pressure issue), its going back to the tank through the pump's checkball. without that tool, all you can do is measure the pressure, or remove the rail from the manifold and physically look for fuel leaking.

you could also pull the rail, fill 8 cups up with water enough to submerge the injector tips, set the rail on the array of cups, then hit it with about 70 psi of air and look in the cups for bubbles.

You can test with the rail & injectors, only. As long as the clips which join the rail to the injs are secure, there will be no mess.
You can do the same test with the injs mounted in the intake .
I just feel that with the injs & rail only, that the injs are exposed, and can be individually contained by a cup.
I've done this without incident, several times.
The test works.

i have an injector machine here, i can test and clean the crap out of them. i have a "injector leakage" setting that holds the injectors at 120 psi to see if they leak

just kinda did the test didn't notice them leaking at all? not sure were the pressure might be going to ?

Could be that the pressure is sending back through the return side of your fuel system.

can you further explain this? im not too familiar with the fuel system on an LS1

if its losing pressure, its going back to the tank through the pump. you still haven't told us whats going on. maybe i'm just being nosey, but whats going on? how did you "kinda" do the test?

read my thread, I just put a brand new pump seems to be a whole lot better, and car seems to be cranking on the first try
