i am curiose because i made 457rwhp last year with a truck maf(i think 85mm),ls6 intake, stock t/b and slp lide.after 6000rpm i lost 100rwhp in the next 500rpm and this year i have a 100mm maf with 102 intake, 102 t/b 104 lide and having bucking and tuning problems, wide open trottle feel strong,(no dyno test yet) my tuner has ask me to put on my stock ls1 maf to try, drivability is verry good with stock maf, but my but-dyno tells me that it is not as stong as the 100maf. looking for the limits of the stock maf(ls1), will be putting on dyno in 2 weeks at a show we are organizing, would like to kno at what hp the stock has max out before, what max flow number should i see on my hp tuner.

does your 100mm maf have a screen? because that will cause alot of turbulence and disrupt the maf signal flow alot of people disagree but i have come across problems without it. and there is a formula to figure out the max airflow something a certain size can flow i just have to find it in my notes somewhere from efi school

i did put a screen, it is just i don't want to wast time tunning the stock if i am loosing a good amount of hp, i am willing to sacrafice a small amount for drivability, on the stock maf the most i have seen is 10700 hz at 6500rpm, is there still room to grow

my goal is to get to 500rwhp, like i said before i was at 457rwhp at 6000rpm before the fast 102 intake and t/b. 100maf. 104 lide and 4'' exauste. and the power drop of very fast loosing 100rwhp by 6500rpm, that is why i changed the intake set-up and exauste, my cam has always been 236-242 at .050. in the .650 lift range. i figured something was maxing out past 6000rpm.

i had hughe probleme with the 100mm maf, had it in the stock location and sensor plug at the 3 o'clock position, i then put it in the 11 o'clock position and was much better, after i put in a screen and helped some more, drivable but bucking. i am thinking that at low speeds the air flow is not all going acrosse the sensor in the large maf. velocity is low.

Simple, get rid of the MAF and go speed density!:guns:

^ not a bad idea

there is a diference in temps here, could be 45 somtime 95, different in altitude, valley and mountains

I've heard this recommendation before when asking bout PORTED MAF ENDS, What is speed density? How is it installed? Thanks

but i did add a screen on the exite of the air lide, i took a screen from a truck maf and it fits perfectly into the 104 lide

That's not a problem, just needs a proper tune and all will be good:judge:

gotta say its little weird to see 100 h.p. loss after 6k during the next 500rpms?..something doesnt sound right about that..sorry if i missed it, but what injectors are u running?
