Some of you that know me personally know that a few weeks ago I filed to run for Tax Collector here in Marion County. I recently got my facebook page up and running (with a link to donate to the campaign as well :usa: ).

The page explains more about me, my reasons for running, and what I will do with the office if I win.
To give some background on the position here in Marion County: I have nothing against the person I'm running. However, he is a career politician (been in office somewhere in FL since '88). The position of Tax collector is what's called a constitutional office, since it's established by the Constitution of FL and is an Administrative position. The purpose of this position is so that local taxes are collected locally and by being an elected position, there's some sort of checks and balances on the office to keep it free from any wrongdoing. I believe that the office should be held by a local person that has worked/lived in the area, not a career politician.
Either way, please like the page, and if you could please donate to the Campaign. I'm currently raising the funds for the qualifying fee, after the money is there for the fee I can start using funds for the typical signs, shirts, advertisement.
