Default Simple O2 Sensor and Wiring help

I'm starting to trim down my own wiring harness from 2000 Corvette and I got to my O2 Sensors and am stuck. The stock front sensors have the long skinny connectors. The rear have the box end connectors. My header kit came with O2 extensions with the box end connectors. So this means I need to trim the skinny connectors and leaved the box end connectors and purchase new O2 sensors? Why do they use the rear sensors instead of the front? Thanks in advance.

You can change the connectors just make sure they are the black ones. There were about 4 different types of connectors used on various LS/Vortec applications. They did this to poke/yoke the installation and prevent inadvertant mismatching of the o2 harnesses during servicing.

Thanks. I don't know what they do for reprogramming the ecm for the O2 sensors but do you keep the O2 sensors that you are leaving in, in the Sensor 1 location in the ECM connector or Sensor 2 location? Or do you just tell your programmer where they are?

The sensors have to be pinned in the sensor 1 location at the pcm. You can swap the harness connectors as needed to match your extensions.

Thanks. I'll make sure to swap them to sensor 1 location for the ecm.
