3 different 243s.. what to buy

Default 3 different 243s.. what to buy

okay got 3 diff. sets of 243 heads I'm looking at to run a g5x3 cam or MS3 cam...


Bo White's with 2.02/1.60s in it that flow a shy less than PRCs 2.5 LS6 that have 2.02/1.60s for $1k plus springs

PRCs stg 2.5 LS6 2.02/1.575s (thinking yes more than the others) $1500


CBMs LS6 heads with 2.055/1.60s intake port 240/exh port 80
CC is 64 @.600 lift they flow 314/220cfm ...$1500

Would 2.055s be okay on stock LS1. I know I'll have to flycut for my cam anyways...

Anyone using similar set up? What are your dyno #s?

have u looked into advanced inductions? they make a great ported 243's.

I would take anything Bo put his hands to work on. He is dedicated and I'm sure he will cut a great deal. Keep the valves stock, they are more than enough and allow you to run lighter valvetrain for best harmonic stability.

WORD!!

I have been nothing but pleased with my stock cast port/polished/milled 5.3L heads Bo did for me 3yrs ago. He even put bigger intake valves in them & cut them for low lift flow since my cam isnt very big. Had Gunnar @Patriot flow them & install the Patriot Gold spring kit for me as well. I saved a good amount goin through Bo with a stock cast head worked over that ended up flowing just as well as a set of heads 3x more expensive.

Personally, I would go with the popular PRC heads. AI is not an option if $1500 is the budget. You will pay about that price plus your cores.

Just received my Livernois Stg 3's in the mail today. Can't wait to get them on, hoping to have time this weekend and then set up a tune. Ill let you know when I have results. FWIW, they were $1799 outright, so if I can get $500 for my factory 243 heads with dual valve springs, Im looking at a total of $1299 for the heads.

How big are the valves in the Stage 3s? You may have problems with the small bore LS1

I like the prc because they come with springs ready to bolt on.

I loved what he did with my tb 6 years ago... so shinny I'd have to supply the springs... valves aren't Z06, so I'm going with 2.02/1.60s but PRCs may flow better... but Bo's are a grand plus the cost of springs... which means i'll still be able to do the trunion upgrades

I'll be interested in what numbers you put down with those heads too. What I like about the Livernois stage 3 heads is that the intake runner size is 220cc. Most stage 3 heads are pushing 245cc. Out of interest, what cam you combining with those Livernois heads?

my stock cast 5.3L heads worked over by Bo have 220cc runners.

flow #'s were: 141.8 @ .200, 199.8 @ .300, and 247.4 @ .400, w/production 2.00 valve cut for low lift flow.

Yea, the few guys that I could find running these heads were making great low end torque, which is one of the many reasons I decided to roll the dice and go with these. My cam is 230/232 592/595 111. Hopefully Ill be able to get some dyno numbers up in a week or two, and more importantly, some track times after that

Sounds like it's going to be a great setup. Please do post up numbers once you get it dyno'd. I'm going the ported 243 route too, but I'm having Ed Curtis at Flowtech Induction CNC port my 243's, which will be combined with a custom cam he ground for me, based off those heads and my goals and usage.

Yea my initial plan was to send my 243s out to AI/TEA/FI to have them done, but I drive my car 5-6 days a week and didnt want it to be out of commission for 4 weeks this summer while I pulled the heads, shipped them out, got them worked on, shipped back, and then installed. Hoping to get everything installed and bolted up over the course of a weekend and then take it down the street to VA Speed to have it tuned after they install the new injectors.

I had my 243's worked on by advanced induction and i was very pleased with my results
