i recently bought a new 6.0 motor for my 2006 GTO and have quite a bit of money left over to beef it up. i'm already going to bore it out and put bigger forged pistons in it. a new set of heads, along with a intake and cam. but like i said i have some extra money for some more performance. any suggestions?

How much money are we talking about? Do you have any exhaust in the car yet ?

You could do a 4" crank with .020-.030 over pistons to make a 402-408 ci motor.

i am getting a exhaust as well. meant to mention that. but i'd say just to be on the safe side i have about $2000 after all of those mods (including the exhaust) most likely more but that's just on the safe side...

Whats your goal for the car? is it your daily driver or strictly a strip car or a nice performance street build? You can get radical if drivability is given less of a priority.

Don't forget to save $500 or so for a tune when this is all done.

What are you doing for rods in this engine?

i'd have to say my goal for the car since it is my daily driver is to beef it up, and make it really reliable. but also i'd like around 450 rwhp and yep im getting rods (but im not sure what to go with yet) for the engine too. the guy at the engine shop was suggesting maybe putting a 100 or 125 shot of NOS on it? he said from what he's seen it's safe. what do you guys think?

Forged rods and pistons should handle a 300 shot, so 100 to 125 will be no problem. Are you keeping the stock crank ?

Don't do pistons and rods unless it needs a rebuild. You better spend your money else ware. Your talking 2-3000 bucks just for rods and pistons when its all said and done. The GTO rear ends suck. You need to have Hendrix Engineering on SPEED DIAL! lol. I would do a really nice H/C/I setup. You have an LS2 so a set of AFR 225s, a Custom Cam, a FAST 102, and you have 500rwhp. Add a 150 shot and were talking 6-650, with 700 torque. Also don't forged about fuel and clutch (or Torque Convertor).

I'd cam it and port out the 243's. Also you can stall it if it's an auto and then tune it.

it needs a rebuild and i'm going to bore the cylinders out so i'd have to get new pistons either way. and every one i've asked about the 100-150 shot of NOS says i'll be fine with mostly forged components so i'm really leaning that route if i have the money left over
