Anybody know what the widest tires possible are for the stock 04 gto rims? Im willing to drop down in aspect ratio from 45 to 40 if need be. Thanks!

that 275 involves no rubbing or fender rolling?

depends what brand. Some run more narrow than others. I've seen plenty of people with a 275 without problems. If it does rub, take 30 mins and cut the lip off the fender. Not hard to do.
either way though, I don't see a 275 being a problem. My buddy has 275 555R's and they don't rub. I've had NT05Rs, ET Streets, and never had a problem.

You should do some suspension and/or fender work to put on a 275. Unless you buy the right tire, some are skinnier than others.
The GTO hub has a 5x120.00mm bolt circle diameter. The offset is 48 mm for both 17-inch wheels. The GTO wheels have 8.0 inch wide rims.
17's Rear: 275/40/17 fit no problems on a 17x9" wheel These stick out just a little more than the factory tires. Recommendation for 17" wheels: 17x9" wheel rear w/ 275/40/17 tires
The wider wheel helps keep the tire in line and prevent rubbing.

I don't want to have to do any sort of messing with the car. Just want to have them put on then go lol. I planned on keeping 245s up front but wanted something a little wider in the back. Maybe il do 265 or 255 idk... im new to this if you haven't figured that out yet...:newbie:

There are tons of threads on the internet on this, do some google searching. Some of it has to do with rear cradle alignment as well. My brother tried 275s on stock suspension and no mods and it rubbed so he pulled them off. Some people have no problems.... Good luck.

Some 275's will be fine, but you won't be able to use all the tread, as it will slightly pull the outside of the tire inward to stick to the rim. I run 275/40/17 Nitto NT05's. I will be going to 255 or 265 Star Spec's next

I wish someone made a 265/45-17, Thats the perfect size for this wheel. 265/40's have a smaller diameter.

a radial fits fine just because the shoulders are more rounded as where the street tries are more square... my buddy had to roll his quarters with the street tires on his goat

i run the nitto nt05r 275/40/17 in the rear with the stock wheel with no rubbing issues. No cutting or rolling of fender needed. Would not recomennd this tire in the rain on a daily driver due to the lack of tread in center of tire. Used to run the nt555r when i still drove it daily. See avatar, this is the nt05r.

same size wheels but off a 2009 solstice
They have a little stretch on them but for 99$ a tire brand new I couldn't pass them up. I just made them fit.

Think what you want the tires were cheap and I like the look of the rim. I have a set or MR116 rims that I really didn't like but they seem to be much more common swap. I haven't seen anyone else run solstice wheels
Not getting butt hurt here, opinions are opinions. I really wish the 265 or 275 had of been on sale because that is to much tire for those size rim's but they work and I am still trapping 115+ and not sliding in second!
They look better in person

The wheels arent terrible. The fitment on the car is what is terrible.

Agreed, the wheels are fine, tire spacing is out way too far. I bet it rubs the fenders on the rear and front. Get some drag springs and bags for the back... :D

That's horrific. Like mentioned, the wheel's themselves look fine. They stick WAAAAY to far out, and the tire is stretched so far it looks rediculous. I know you like it, and really, that's all that matters, but I would be embarrassed to drive around like that.

those look fucking horrible , i would hate on that car if i saw it in person , it looks so bad. the rims okay , but they stock out way too much , this inst a 1974 camero man. And yes i spelled it that way on purpose.

Already have them. Lovell's and Drag bags. No rubbing on the rear and only a slight rub at full lock on the fronts.
Thanks for the compliments on the wheels and the "other stuff".
No hard feelings, we all have our own taste. Do I love it ? Not really, but do I have the cash to thrown down on a staggered setup right now? Nope. I am just getting a tire under there big enough for me to use the car. No one can argue with me for making what I have work and be useful.
Carry on I hate to derail this thread any longer with my horror film.:corn:

I've run 5 or 6 pairs of 275/40-17 tires on the rear of my gto (on stock wheels)
the KDWS tires (stock tread) fit fine, Nitto Drag Radial's fit fine, Yokohama Advan a032R's needed a little fender trimming, as did the Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials (I've run 3 pairs of these)
as far as the comment about not being able to use all the tread,
it depends on how you run them,
I've gotten pretty damn even wear across the tread on the Mickey thompson's
but that's with alot of 1320 passes and burnouts at 18psi
